Аннотация

Asia Pacific countries are responding to the urgent call for action on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stated in the 2024 United Nations General Assembly Political Declaration on AMR. We present the first regional summary of national data from 28 Asia Pacific countries compiled for the seventh Tokyo AMR One Health Conference in February 2025 in relation to selected Political Declaration goals and targets to serve as a baseline for planning and from which to measure progress to 2030. We show that (1) 15 out of 27 (56%) countries receive less than 30% of their total AMR funding from domestic sources; (2) while 27 countries had endorsed at least one multisectoral national AMR action plan, only 11 included numerical targets; (3) 26 countries have a national infection prevention and control programme but only 16 countries reported over 75% of healthcare facilities having basic water, sanitation and hygiene/waste services; (4) only nine countries estimated greater than 70% of total national antibiotic use coming from the WHO Access group of antibiotics and (5) 27 national AMR reference laboratories can perform antibiotic susceptibility testing for all bacterial pathogens listed in the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System-AMR but only 16 have this capacity for all fungal pathogens. We highlight the need for increased domestic financing to accelerate national action against AMR and emphasise the importance of this regional summary as a baseline for monitoring individual country efforts and progress towards achieving the goals and targets of the 2024 Political Declaration on AMR.
