Assessment of Prognostic Value of CEACAM5 Expression Using Archival Tissue and Real-World Evidence of Metastatic Patients with NSCLC in United States.
Аннотация
PURPOSE: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common form of lung cancer and is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, leading to poor prognosis. Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) has emerged as a potential biomarker in colorectal and other gastrointestinal cancer; however, its role in NSCLC remains unexplored. This study evaluated the prognostic role of the CEACAM5 biomarker in metastatic non-squamous (mNSQ) NSCLC using real-world data.
METHODS
CEACAM5 expression was assessed via immunohistochemistry of archival tissue from 336 eligible patients. Real-world overall survival (rwOS) was the primary outcome analyzed across six treatment cohorts. Secondary outcomes included prevalence of CEACAM5 expression (high, moderate, negative) by cohort and tumor site (primary vs. metastatic) and other outcomes including real-world progression-free survival (rwPFS), time to next treatment (rwTTNT), and time to treatment discontinuation (rwTTD).
RESULTS
High CEACAM5 expression was observed in approximately 18% of the overall population, with consistent levels observed across both primary and metastatic tumor samples. No significant associations were found between different CEACAM5 expression levels and rwOS, rwPFS, rwTTNT, and rwTTD, across all cohorts.
CONCLUSION
CEACAM5 did not demonstrate prognostic value in this retrospective cohort study of patients with metastatic NSCLC. Further research to confirm our findings is needed.
