BACKGROUND: Many adults with intellectual disabilities attend day services, yet few intervention studies report implementability and preliminary effectiveness within day services.

METHODS: Guided by the Medical Research Council framework, this study evaluated early-stage feasibility of an 8-week health and wellbeing intervention for adults with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities (n = 24). Feasibility, acceptability, and fidelity were assessed alongside pre-post outcomes, with exploratory analyses by intellectual disability level.

RESULTS: Retention was 100% and compliance was 73%. Outcome completion exceeded 80% for most measures, no adverse events occurred, and fidelity was satisfactory. Systolic blood pressure, muscular endurance and flexibility improved. Exploratory analyses suggested more favourable outcomes for participants with mild intellectual disabilities.

CONCLUSION: The intervention was feasible and acceptable, with satisfactory fidelity, supporting progression with refinement. Preliminary health improvements were observed.
