What's New in Cardiac Risk Assessment and Mitigation-The 2024 American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Guidelines for Perioperative Cardiovascular Management for Noncardiac Surgery.

This article is a review of the 2024 American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Guideline for Perioperative Cardiovascular Management for Noncardiac Surgery, an update of previous guidelines published in 2014. The current epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in the US surgical population is discussed followed by sections exploring risk factors for the occurrence of major adverse cardiac and cerebral events (MACCE), specific recommendations for preoperative evaluation, perioperative management, and postoperative surveillance for MACCE and myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery.
