Postpartum and Lifelong Cardiometabolic Risk after Gestational Diabetes and Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy.
Аннотация
Approximately 1 in 5 pregnancies are complicated by gestational diabetes and/or hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Rates of both perinatal complications are rising in parallel and share risk factors such as obesity, advanced maternal age at delivery, and insulin resistance. Moreover, both conditions are associated with cardiometabolic morbidities following pregnancy including type 2 diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, and cerebrovascular accidents. Professional organizations have recognized these conditions as key risk factors for metabolic, cardiovascular, and cerebrovascular morbidity and mortality. Additionally, these conditions impact the uterine environment, leading to increased risk of cardiometabolic disorders in the offspring.
