Аннотация

INTRODUCTION: People with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) typically experience painful lumps, abscesses, draining sinus tracts, and scarring, all of which can seriously affect their physical comfort, mental health, social life, and ability to work.

METHODS: A retrospective study was carried out at Christian Medical College, Vellore, and included patients with Hurley stage II and III HS who underwent surgical treatment between 2020 and 2024.

RESULTS: Eleven patients (64.7%) had stage II disease and 6 patients (35.3%) had stage III disease. The axilla was the most commonly involved region (70.27%). Associated comorbidities included tuberculosis, inflammatory bowel disease, systemic hypertension, and hypothyroidism. Flap reconstruction was the most common procedure (54.83%). Recurrence was seen in 2 patients.

CONCLUSION: Careful disease clearance and site-specific reconstruction seem to play an important role in achieving favorable short-term outcomes with low early recurrence.
