Intravascular ultrasound-guided repair of delayed traumatic popliteal artery occlusion using an interwoven nitinol stent.
Аннотация
Traumatic popliteal artery occlusion is a limb-threatening condition traditionally managed with open surgical revascularization. Here, we describe a 66-year-old man with delayed occlusion after high-energy lower-extremity trauma. Initial computed tomography angiography indicated preserved flow despite severe arterial deformation. Progressive heel necrosis developed after fracture fixation and debridement; repeat imaging on day 24 showed complete occlusion of the popliteal artery. Intravascular ultrasound-guided endovascular repair with an interwoven nitinol stent restored antegrade flow. Wound healing was achieved after flap and skin graft procedures, and stent patency was maintained for >2.5 years.
