Аннотация

Musca autumnalis or face fly plays a central role in the incidence and severity of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) outbreaks in cattle operations. Face flies feed on ocular and nasal secretions of cattle causing ocular irritation and trauma. This allows for the spread of the organisms that are responsible for cases of IBK and makes face fly control a central component of preventative programs designed to minimize the incidence of IBK. Understanding the lifecycle of the face fly is crucial to construct control measures designed to minimize both fly numbers and disease incidence.
