Аннотация

BACKGROUND

Endoscopic forehead lifting is a widely used minimally invasive procedure for upper facial rejuvenation. Postoperative forehead numbness caused by nerve injury remains a common complication, and conventional passive nerve protection is insufficient.

METHODS

A retrospective 1:1 matched case-control study was conducted with 28 patients (14 pairs). The study group received proactive endoscopic identification and protection of the supraorbital and supratrochlear nerves, while the control group underwent conventional surgery. Main outcomes included numbness VAS score, numbness area, FACE-Q satisfaction, and operation time.

RESULTS

The study group presented significantly lower VAS scores and smaller numbness areas at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months postoperatively (P < 0.05), with faster and more complete sensory recovery. FACE-Q scores for forehead satisfaction, wrinkle improvement, and overall surgical outcome were all significantly higher (P < 0.05). Operation time was comparable between the two groups (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSION

Proactive neuroprotective technique significantly reduces postoperative forehead numbness without compromising operation efficiency or aesthetic results, thus improving patient satisfaction.
