Аннотация

This article uses the life in the margins approach to elucidate the dynamics of trust required to enable sensible veterinary practices among pastoralists in Kilombero District, Tanzania. Through an ethnographic lens, it examines how pastoralists, marginalized from veterinary services, manage livestock health in a dynamic rural context. State-led policies are promoted by animal health workers to manage livestock health while pastoralists rely on informal networks, generational knowledge, and the unregulated use of antibiotics. This reveals a coexistence shaped by historical mistrust of state interventions demonstrating how pastoralists negotiate power and exercise agency in order to survive a complex veterinary ecosystem.
