Аннотация
Sciatic nerve injury in femoral fractures is rare but serious complication. It can occur due to traumatic impact, hematoma or iatrogenic damage during surgical procedures involving traction, cerclage, clamps and retractors. It is also a known but rare complication of hip replacement surgery and can accompany both native and prosthetic hip dislocations. However, reports of sciatic nerve injury associated with proximal femur fractures are exceedingly rare. Here, we present a unique case of sciatic nerve dislocation from its anatomic position following a proximal femur fracture and subsequent "entrapment" in displaced position after fracture fixation. This case demonstrated that neurologic complications can accompany high energy femoral fractures and underscores the importance of considering this possibility during treatment.
