Аннотация
Cesarean delivery is one of the most common obstetric procedures worldwide. The amniotic membrane, the inner layer of the placenta, surrounds the embryo and forms a fluid-filled sac. This research aimed to assess how the immediate application of amniotic membrane after delivery affects wound healing and pain. The researchers used a quasi-experimental design and conducted the study at Tbarak Hospital, Cairo, Egypt. The researchers used a purposive sample of 70 women undergoing cesarean delivery equally divided into a study group (n = 35) and a control group (n = 35). Three tools were used for data collection: (1) a structured interview questionnaire consisting of Part A: personal characteristics; and Part B: obstetric history), (2) the Redness, Edema, Erythema, Discharge, Approximation Scale to assess wound healing, and (3) a pain assessment questionnaire consisting of a behavioral rating scale (qualitative) and a visual analogue scale (quantitative). The findings revealed a highly statistically significant improvement in wound healing and reduced pain levels in the study group compared to the control group. The study concluded that applying the amniotic membrane to cesarean delivery wounds significantly improves healing and reduces pain more than routine care, supporting the research hypothesis.
