Patient perceptions of integrated cardiovascular care in primary healthcare settings in Kazakhstan.
Аннотация
AIMS: Cardiovascular diseases remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Kazakhstan. This study aimed to evaluate patient perceptions of integrated cardiovascular care in primary healthcare (PHC) and identify factors associated with satisfaction with outpatient cardiovascular services.
MATERIALS AND
METHODS
A cross-sectional survey included 268 patients receiving outpatient care for cardiovascular diseases or risk factors. A validated questionnaire assessed multidisciplinary team (MDT) involvement, medication support, daycare hospital use, healthcare professional support, treatment adherence, and psychosocial factors. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's chi-square test, and Firth-penalized logistic regression.
RESULTS
Of 268 participants, 220 (82.1%; 95% CI, 77.1-86.3%) were satisfied with outpatient cardiovascular care, while only 12.7% were aware of MDT involvement. Satisfaction was associated with educational level (p = 0.019), treatment adherence (p < 0.001), medication support awareness (p < 0.001), MDT awareness (p = 0.015), daycare hospital use (p = 0.009), psychological concerns (p < 0.001), and nurse support (p < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONS
Satisfaction was associated primarily with organizational, behavioral, and psychosocial aspects of care. Limited MDT awareness suggests that integrated-care structures may not always be perceived by patients as coordinated care.
