Urinary schistosomiasis in a patient from an endemic region.

We present a case report of a 21-year-old male originally from Northwest Africa who presented to the emergency room with urinary complaints and was diagnosed with urinary schistosomiasis. We present illustrative clinical images obtained during the diagnostic workup. Cross-sectional imaging suggested calcifications throughout his upper and lower urinary tracts. Cystoscopy revealed numerous areas of sandy patches and mucosal hyperemia throughout his bladder urothelium, pathognomonic findings characteristic of urinary schistosomiasis. The patient experienced significant symptom relief after treatment with praziquantel.
