Sleep quality in patients with mycosis fungoides and its relationship with dermatology-specific quality of life.
Аннотация
Sleep disturbances are increasingly recognized as a significant aspect of the disease burden in dermatologic disorders; however, data about sleep quality in patients with mycosis fungoides (MF) remain limited. In this context, the quality of sleep and its clinical correlates were evaluated in a cohort of MF patients using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the Dermatology Life Quality Index. Poor sleep quality was observed in more than half of the patients, underscoring the clinical relevance of this issue in MF. No significant associations were found between sleep quality and sociodemographic variables, lifestyle factors, or disease-related clinical parameters. Although patients experiencing sleep impairment tended to report higher Dermatology Life Quality Index scores, this difference did not reach statistical significance. These findings indicate that sleep disturbances in MF are common, but they may not be directly linked to conventional clinical or demographic factors; instead, they likely reflect the complex, multifactorial nature of the disease, influenced by symptom burden and psychosocial factors. Recognizing sleep impairment as part of the disease spectrum may facilitate a more comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to managing patients with MF.
