Аннотация

Streptococcus equi, a Gram-positive, beta-hemolytic bacterium, is a zoonotic pathogen rarely implicated in human infections. Infected aortic aneurysms caused by S. equi are extremely uncommon and potentially fatal. Early imaging, prompt medical and surgical interventions, and long-term suppressive antibiotic therapy are critical in management. A 72-year-old man with a ruptured infected aortic aneurysm underwent emergent open aortic repair with in situ reconstruction using a rifampin-soaked polyester tube graft with a presewn side branch for the renal artery. The postoperative course was complicated by a pseudoaneurysm at the proximal aortic anastomosis, and intraoperative cultures confirmed S. equi infection. The patient was discharged on long-term suppressive antibiotics and remained clinically stable with no recurrence at one-year follow-up.
