Clinical effects of deep hyperthermia on patients undergoing postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer.
Аннотация
OBJECTIVE
To explore the effects of hyperthermia on the side effects of chemotherapy, inflammation, immune function, and quality of life in patients undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy following colorectal cancer surgery.
METHODS
The effects of deep hyperthermia on adverse reactions to chemotherapy were evaluated by analyzing the occurrence of bone marrow suppression, nausea and vomiting, and liver damage during treatment. The impact of deep hyperthermia on the immune system was assessed by measuring inflammation and immune function biomarkers, including PCT, IL-6, C3, C4, and C1q. Additionally, the GIQLI scores before and after chemotherapy were compared to examine the influence of deep hyperthermia on patients' quality of life.
RESULTS
The incidences of severe neutropenia and severe thrombocytopenia were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The incidences of severe hyperbilirubinemia and severe ALT elevation were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The incidences of severe nausea and vomiting were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The PCT level was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group by the end of chemotherapy (P < 0.05), and the PCT level had significantly declined in the experimental group after chemotherapy (P < 0.05). Furthermore, there was a statistically significant difference in the GIQLI score increase between the two groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
Deep hyperthermia may make a difference in the side effects of chemotherapy, including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, liver damage, and nausea as well as in the GIQLI scoring of patients.
