Management of Ectodermal Dysplasia Patients Presenting with Hypodontia with Implant Rehabilitation: Part 2-Outcomes of Two Cases.

PURPOSE: To assess improvements of patients with ectodermal dysplasia (ED) treated by a multidisciplinary team with provision of fixed prostheses supported by dental implants.

MATERIALS AND

METHODS

Two patients with ED and hypodontia were treated with a new maxillary complete dental prosthesis or fixedimplant prosthesis and a mandibular fixed dental prosthesis (FDP) with implants. Patients were assessed with questionnaires to evaluate improvements in function and social and psychologic problems.

RESULTS

Improvement in all aspects was reported for the two patients. A comprehensive team was able to provide a treatment plan that improved individual functional, social, and psychologic status.

CONCLUSIONS

Patients with ED treated with dental implants reported encouraging outcomes after the prostheses were fitted and delivered.
