PURPOSE: Confocal scanning laser tomography is a new technique with significant potential in the treatment of glaucoma. Before new techniques are widely implemented in clinical practice, factors that affect the variability of measurements should be identified. PURPOSE: The Heidleberg Retina Tomograph provides rapid, reproducible measurements of optic disc topography as well as calculations of disc parameters. We used a stepwise discriminant analysis to determine which parameters were most useful in detecting individuals with early glaucomatous visual field loss.
METHODS: We studied one eye in each of 45 normal individuals and one eye in each of 46 individuals with early glaucomatous visual field loss. The appearance of the optic disc was not used for classification purposes so as not to bias the diagnostic determination obtained by the instrument.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the test-retest reproducibility of measures of blood flow velocities using color Doppler imaging (CDI) in orbital arteries.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Measures of peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, and resistive index were performed in a group of 15 normal tension glaucoma patients and in 15 healthy subjects using the Siemens Quantum 2000 CDI system with a 7.5 MHz linear probe. Severe, short-term decreases in alveolar Pco2 acutely lower intraocular pressure (IOP). We wondered if less severe, physiologically relevant Pco2 reductions would also lower ocular tension and if this effect would persist in the longer term. Postkeratoplasty glaucoma is a significant cause of visual loss after penetrating keratoplasty. Surgery for postkeratoplasty glaucoma refractory to medical treatment has been difficult and carries with it a high risk of failure of the corneal graft. Nd:YAG laser transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (Nd:YAG CPC) was used to treat 19 patients with glaucoma refractory to medical therapy after penetrating keratoplasty.
