Optimization of emergency logistics for urban flooding with consideration of rainfall effects.

Urban flooding frequently causes significant damage to infrastructure and facilities, leading to critical supply shortages in affected regions. Ensuring rapid and efficient distribution of relief supplies remains a key challenge during disaster response operations. This study proposes a two-stage optimization framework for emergency logistics. First, a supply distribution model is developed by integrating resource scarcity indices and disaster severity indices, optimized through a simulated annealing algorithm. Second, a vehicle routing model accounting for rainfall and dynamic vehicle speeds

Drowning in delays: a patient journey mapping analysis of child drowning care in rural India.

OBJECTIVES: Immediate or urgent and appropriate postevent response to child drowning is crucial to decrease mortality and morbidity. However, these responses are often delayed, especially in low-income contexts. In this study, we use patient journey mapping to identify key delays to care occurring after child drowning incidents in a low-resource, high-risk region. SETTING: The study was conducted in the Sundarbans, a rural region in India facing a high burden of child drowning due to high presence of open water and regular flooding. PARTICIPANTS: Using purposive sampling, recent child drowni

Understanding the Co-occurrence of Depressive and Anxiety Symptoms Among 2021 Henan Flood Victims Through Panel Network Analysis: A 6-Month, Three-Wave Longitudinal Study.

Previous studies have mostly used cross-sectional network to analyze the co-occurrence of depression and anxiety, but this method cannot capture the temporal influences between symptoms. This study uses longitudinal data to explore the dynamic structure of the cooccurrence of depressive and anxiety symptoms among flood victims in Henan in 2021. Data were collected at 3-month intervals from July 20, 2021, to January 30, 2022, and the final sample included 279 disaster victims reporting on items measuring anxiety and depression. We employ the generalized vector autoregressive model approach to e

Trajectories of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and posttraumatic growth among victims 6 months after the 2021 Henan floods: predictive roles of social support and short video exposure during the disaster.

BACKGROUND: While cross-sectional studies have established that social support and media exposure are associated with PTSD symptoms and Posttraumatic Growth (PTG), the longitudinal dynamics of these relationships in the context of digital-era disasters remain underexplored. In particular, the psychological impact of short video exposure about the floods during disasters is not well understood. This study seeks to elucidate the predictive roles of social support and short video exposure during the 2021 Henan floods on the initial levels and changes of PTSD symptoms and PTG six months post-disas
