BACKGROUND: The use of suicide methods largely determines the outcome of suicide acts. However, no existing meta-analysis has assessed the case fatality rates (CFRs) by different suicide methods. The current study aimed to fill this gap.
METHODS: We searched Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, ProQuest and Embase for studies reporting method-specific CFRs in suicide, published from inception to 31 December 2020. A random-effect model meta-analysis was applied to compute pooled estimates.

Although housing instability moderates suicide risk among military veterans, it is unknown whether suicide methods differ between stably and unstably housed veterans. The Veterans Health Administration screened 5,849,870 veterans for housing instability between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2016. Death data were from the National Death Index. Professional heavy vehicle drivers can experience a traumatic event at work when suicidal drivers deliberately crash into their vehicles or a pedestrian jumps in front of them.
