It is unclear whether the use of antibiotics is related to the efficacy of gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel (GnP). The Warburg effect is one of the important hallmarks of cancer. The activation of oncogene and inactivation of tumor suppressor gene contribute to the enhancement of glycolytic enzymes and the Warburg effect. The N-myc downstream regulated gene 2 (NDRG2) is a tumor suppressor gene and is frequently lost in various types of cancer. However, little is known about glycolytic function and therapeutic value of NDRG2 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study, we found that NDRG2 and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) were aberrantly expressed in HCC and were closely related to the Warburg effect.

Azacitidine (AZA), a hypomethylating agent, is widely used in patients with high-risk (HR) myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). AZA is also believed to aid in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In randomized clinical trials for MDS, major and overall response rates for AZA alone were 16-33% and 38-60%, respectively. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is highly resistant to chemotherapies. The lack of efficacious treatment for metastatic RCC has led to a poor 5-year survival rate. Here, we found that Apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53-2(ASPP2) was frequently decreased in primary RCC tissues in comparison with non-tumoural kidney controls. Decreased ASPP2 was correlated with high grades and poor outcomes of RCC. Further studies revealed that ASPP2 downregulation promoted EMT and increased resistance to 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU)-induced apoptosis. To this end, the regulatory mechanisms of ASPP2 were further explored.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate a reliable clinical indication for predicting the therapeutic response of decitabine therapy in the patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
METHODS: The clinical efficacy of decitabine for 55 cases of MDS was analyzed retrospectively. According to the lymphocyte level at d28 after the first time treatment with decitabine, the patients were divided into high lymphocyte level group (H-Lym≥1.2×109/L) and low lymphocyte level group (L-Lym<1.2×109/L), and the overall response rate (ORR) and the progression-free survival (PFS) time in 2 groups were compared.
