The relationship between gastric emptying rate of semisolid Tc-99m labelled Chelex-100 resin/oatmeal and paracetamol absorption was determined simultaneously in seven healthy volunteers. The bioavailability of enteric coated and plain aspirin tablets was studied in four beagle dogs. Blood sampling for enteric coated tablets was planned with the aid of a radiotelemetric system. The bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of acetylsalicylic acid were studied in 6 volunteers, under a cross-over design, using plain compressed aspirin, two buffered preparations and an enteric-coated tablet. We have shown previously that aspirin (ASA) ingestion by normal human volunteers inhibits peripheral blood monocyte phospholipase C (PLC) activities ex vivo. The pharmacokinetics of isoxicam 200 mg administered orally in 10 healthy male volunteers was studied before and during administration of acetylsalicylic acid 3.9 g daily by mouth starting 5 days after isoxicam.
