Label‑free quantitative mass spectrometry was used to analyze the differences in the granulation tissue protein expression profiles of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) before and after negative‑pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to understand how NPWT promotes the healing of diabetic foot wounds. INTRODUCTION: Dengue fever is an acute viral disease, which usually presents as a mild febrile illness. Patients with severe disease present with dengue haemorrhagic fever or dengue toxic shock syndrome. Rarely, it presents with abdominal symptoms mimicking acute appendicitis. We report the case of a patient with appendicitis due to actinomycosis, complicated by multiple liver abscesses. Definitive diagnosis was based on histopathologic examination of the resected appendix. Accurate identification of the pathogen led to curative antibiotic therapy of the liver abscesses.

BACKGROUND: Primary actinomycosis of the anterior abdominal wall and appendix are very rare clinical entities. An accurate diagnosis is generally obtained by histological examination, and treatment often requires surgical resection.

Meckel diverticula are remnants of the omphalomesenteric duct. They have 2% incidence in the general population, are usually asymptomatic, and tend to be diagnosed incidentally. The generally held principle had been that asymptomatic cases do not require resection, as exemplified by a 2008 systematic review of over 200 studies. However, a recent series reported an increased risk of malignancies, and recommended mandatory resection. We present a case of Meckel diverticulitis with concurrent infiltrative appendiceal carcinoid in a patient with right lower quadrant pain.

Primary peritonitis remains a rare disease in otherwise healthy children, with group A Streptococcus (GAS) being a particularly unusual cause. A case involving a 14-year-old girl, who presented with an 'acute abdomen' and was taken to the operating room for urgent laparoscopy, is reported.
