Continuous glucose monitoring in the management of gestational diabetes in Switzerland (DipGluMo): an open-label, single-centre, randomised, controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: In gestational diabetes, one of the key factors affecting perinatal outcomes is glycaemic control. We aimed to investigate the effect of real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM) on perinatal outcomes versus self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). METHODS: In this open-label, randomised, controlled trial, we recruited pregnant individuals aged 18-45 years with gestational diabetes, according to the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria, from a university hospital in Bern, Switzerland. Participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to the rtCGM

Retained versus removed copper intrauterine device during pregnancy: An updated systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are highly effective contraceptives. Despite their effectiveness, pregnancies can occur during IUD use, and the management of such cases, particularly when the pregnancy is desired, remains controversial. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate outcomes in women who unintentionally conceived while using IUDs and chose to continue their pregnancies. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases to identify studies comparing women who removed their IUD after pregnancy discovery to those who retained it.

Association of cervical cancer and intrauterine device use: a narrative review.

Although intrauterine devices (IUDs) are widely used as a contraceptive method, their association with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia remains a subject of debate. Some studies suggest a potential protective effect, possibly through local immune modulation, while others report no significant association. Evidence, however, remains scarce and inconsistent, particularly regarding long-term IUDs use. Our study aims to address these gaps by exploring the relationship between IUDs use and cervical cancer within the broader context of cervical cancer prevention. We conducted a narrative review by

European Urogynaecological Association Position Statement: Implantable Devices for Female Stress Incontinence Surgery.

The European Urogynecological Association (EUGA) convened an expert group to address the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) using implantable devices. Midurethral synthetic slings (MUS) remain the gold standard, demonstrating high efficacy and an acceptable safety profile. The choice of surgical approach should be tailored to individual patient needs and risk factors. Retropubic MUS may offer slightly higher efficacy but carry specific risks, while transobturator slings are associated with a higher incidence of chronic pelvic and groin pain. Single-incision mini-slings (SI

Complications of total laparoscopic hysterectomy: with vs. without a uterine manipulator.

BACKGROUND: Uterine manipulators may decrease the incidence of complications associated with total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH), but contrary views exist regarding the use of uterine manipulators for TLH. There are insufficient data on the safety of TLH without a uterine manipulator in both benign and malignant cases. Data on the safety and outcomes of TLH performed without a uterine manipulator remain limited. While some studies have investigated this issue, direct comparisons between TLH with and without the use of a manipulator, particularly across both benign and malignant indications,
