Seventy patients requiring surgical treatment for femoral artery pseudoaneurysm after angiographic procedures have been presented. The 10 year study period encompassed 38,822 catheter procedures (31,951 cardiology procedures and 6,871 radiology procedures) performed through the femoral artery. Presenting complaints included pain (51 percent) and neuropathy (19 percent). Additional morbidity has been discussed. Based on four cases of phlebitis associated with permanent intravenous cardiac stimulation catheters, the authors review the pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of this disease. The insertion of the catheter causes varying degrees of radiologically detectable thrombosis in 30 to 50 per cent of cases. Forty-four Madreporic, cementless, total hip arthroplasties performed on 41 patients were reviewed, with special attention to overall clinical results and radiologic findings. Reoperation for secondary deterioration after mitral commissurotomy is associated with a higher immediate postoperative mortality than other open heart operations. This paper is a description of the design and management of the facility in which most of the treatment and housing occurred. The problems associated with contamination control, waste handling, supplies and radiological concerns during the two-stage transfer of the patient from a controlled situation to his normal living environment are discussed in detail.

In order to evaluate a new method of heparinization, uncoated (22) and heparin-coated (27) central venous polyethylene catheters were inserted in 49 patients via basilic and cephalic veins punctured at the fossa cubiti. Flexible fiberoptic endoscopes are being increasingly used for direct visualization and biopsy of lesions of the gastrointestinal tract. The spectrum of gastrointestinal complications associated with fiber-optic esophagoscopy, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy is reviewed. Radiologic recognition and evaluation of these iatrogenic incidents is of critical importance.

Transuterine migration of an IUCD is a rare complication, more spectacular than serious. In general asymptomatic or associated with only minor symptoms, such a perforation usually passes unnoticed.
