Three large batches were prepared of lyzed splenocytic leukocyte dialyzate from SPF outbred mice, immunized with a live attenuated virus from the tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) complex. Total mass of freeze-dried dialyzates was 1.73 g. The influence of portal blood factors on canine liver regeneration was studied with graded nonhepatic splanchnic evisceration, coupled with 44 and 72 per cent hepatectomies. Host responsiveness to a progressively growing methylcholanthrene (MC) induced tumour (MC6/2) was studied at varying intervals following subcutaneous (s.c.) tumour implantation by monitoring the in vitro incorporation of tritiated thymidine (3H-TdR) into lymph node cells (LNC) undergoing stimulation in vivo and concurrently determining the total numbers of the lymphoid cells present in these organs at each of the time intervals. In crude extracts of adipose tissue the protein kinase dissociates slowly at 30 degrees into regulatory and catalytic subunits in the presence of 700 mug per ml of histone or 0.5 M NaCl. If the kinase is first dissociated by adding 10 muM adenosine 3':5'-monophosphate (cAMP), reassociation occurs instantaneously after removal of the cAMP by Sephadex G-25 chromatography.
