BACKGROUND: Humans age at different rates, and facial characteristics may yield insight into biological age and physiologic health. FaceAge, a deep learning system designed to estimate biological age based on facial photographs, has shown potential as a biomarker for cancer prognosis. This study investigated the prognostic value of extreme discordance between FaceAge and chronological age (FaceAge - Age) in predicting survival and early mortality across a large clinical dataset of 28 cancer types.
METHODS: Data from 24 556 patients with cancer aged 60 years or older treated with radiation the

This study evaluated the impact of off-center diagonal (OCD) profile depth pairing between the treatment planning system (TPS) and the electronic portal imaging device (EPID) on gamma pass rates in portal dosimetry. In clinical workflows, OCD profiles are used in the TPS to generate predicted images via the portal dosimetry image prediction (PDIP) algorithm and in the EPID system to correct measured fluence. The consistency of these settings may influence verification accuracy. Portal images were acquired using a TrueBeam linear accelerator with an aS1200 EPID for four photon energies: 6X, 10X

Rationale: The efficacy of radiotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is often limited by an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), requiring high radiation doses that cause systemic toxicity. There is a critical need for theranostic strategies capable of guiding therapy and amplifying the efficacy of low-dose radiation. Methods: We developed a multifunctional organolutetium nanosensitizer (LSPA) for image-guided, low-dose radioimmunotherapy. Lutetium (Lu) serves as both a contrast agent for CT imaging and a radiosensitizer through the generation of reactive oxygen species (

Molecularly targeted therapies are increasingly relevant in clinical oncology, as they enable the selective modulation of specific biologic targets-such as enzymes or receptors-by inhibiting or enhancing their function. Nectin cell adhesion molecule 4 (nectin-4), a tumor-associated antigen, is overexpressed in various malignancies and has been linked to tumor progression and poor clinical outcomes. Its role has recently gained significant attention, particularly in urothelial carcinoma, where nectin-4-targeted antibody-drug conjugates have demonstrated promising therapeutic efficacy. These fin

BACKGROUND: Fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery (fSRS) using LINAC-based volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) has become widely adopted and achieved favorable outcomes. However, this technique involves extremely small field sizes, making pre-treatment quality assurance (QA) with high-resolution detectors essential.
PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the error detection sensitivity and utility of EPID using 3D in vivo dosimetry based on dose-volume histogram (DVH) analysis for brain fSRS pre-treatment QA.
METHODS: VMAT plans were generated for spherical planning target volumes (PTVs)

BACKGROUND: Radiomics involves extracting and analyzing quantitative imaging features to support medical decision-making, particularly in radiology and oncology. When applied to radiotherapy dose distributions, this approach, referred to as 'dosiomics', aims to identify the spatial dose patterns associated with treatment outcomes. However, software discrepancies in feature extraction may hinder reproducibility and limit the clinical adoption of radiomic/dosiomic models.
PURPOSE: This study presents the first comprehensive evaluation of software agreement and feature reproducibility across too

BACKGROUND: To ensure consistency in treatment planning across institutions, inter-center variations in Hounsfield look-up tables (HLUTs) have been evaluated using different methods in Japan and Europe. In Japan, the Hiroshima High-Precision Radiotherapy Cancer Center (HIPRAC) developed the computed tomography number calibration audit (HIPRAC-CTCA) based on a stoichiometric method, while in Europe, the European Particle Therapy Network (EPTN) implemented a method using validated tissue-equivalent inserts. Comparing these approaches is essential to improving consistency and reliability.

Objective.During radiotherapy, the radiation dose delivered to circulating blood can result in radiation-induced lymphopenia, which is correlated with adverse clinical outcomes like lower survival. Increasingly complex models to simulate radiation dose delivery to circulating blood have been developed in response, and their inclusion during radiotherapy treatment planning has been suggested. However, performing full dynamic blood dose simulations which take into account temporal considerations such as blood flow dynamics and treatment delivery time during the iterative treatment planning proce

BACKGROUND: Implementing structured shared decision-making (SDM) requires high-quality, reliable patient information. In radiation oncology, patients often have limited knowledge and misconceptions about therapy and side effects, affecting their decision-making. Large language model-based AI systems (LLMs) may help by providing evidence-based information in accessible language, but successful implementation depends on the willingness of patients and health care professionals (HCPs) to adopt these technologies.
METHODS: A survey was conducted among patients undergoing radiation therapy and HCP

BACKGROUND: Magnetic resonance (MR)-guided online adaptive radiation therapy (MRgOART) has attracted increasing attention owing to its capabilities to create daily adaptation plans and perform real-time motion management. However, during multileaf collimator (MLC) tracking, MRgOART systems face a latency of ∼300 ms, which can compromise treatment accuracy. Therefore, predictive models for respiratory-induced liver motion are essential to compensate for system delays and enable precise MLC tracking.
PURPOSE: This study aims to develop a respiratory motion prediction model based on non-stationa

This study aims to investigate the impact of position-dependent CT number variations and image bit-depth, which determines the range of encodable CT numbers, on relative electron density (RED) conversion, a process essential for accurate radiation dose calculation, for patients with high-Z materials or metal implants. A commercially available phantom containing tissue-equivalent rods and metal implant inserts was scanned using a clinical CT simulator at nine positional offsets (isocenter, ±6.5 cm, and ±10.5 cm in lateral and anterior-posterior directions). CT images were acquired with both 12-

AIMS: Some histological subtypes of soft-tissue sarcoma have an oedema tail evident on T2 hyperintensity in MRI scans at the time of presentation. The clinical and prognostic relevance of the infiltration of the oedema tail with tumour cells is not clear. The aim of this study was to determine the rate of contamination of the oedema tail with tumour cells in a series of sarcomas, the variables that affect the presence of tumour cells in the oedema, and the oncological relevance of the infiltration.
METHODS: A total of 67 patients who had a primary appendicular soft-tissue sarcoma with an oede
