Hydrocelectomy Complication Rates in the United States.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Hydrocelectomy is the gold standard treatment for hydrocele. European data showed complication rates between 16% and 25%, however the rate within the United States has not been assessed. We examined the postoperative complication, emergency department visit, readmission and re-operation rates after hydrocelectomy in the United States. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of 27,418 individuals who underwent hydrocelectomy in the United States between 2004 and 2024 identified through the TriNetX US Network using ICD-10 and CPT codes. Patients were excl

Letter to the editor regarding "association between sarcopenia on residual back pain after percutaneous kyphoplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures".

We commend Chengming Li et al. for examining the link between sarcopenia and residual back pain after PKP. However, their retrospective single‑center study (N = 231) has notable limitations. Sarcopenia was diagnosed solely via SMI at T12 on CT, without functional measures (e.g., grip strength, gait speed), and T12 is not a standard spinal muscle evaluation level, risking diagnostic bias. Pain was assessed only by VAS, lacking detail on characteristics or frequency, hindering mechanistic insight. Causal inference is weak due to unaddressed reverse causality-pre‑operative pain may cause disuse a

Long-Term Effectiveness of Spinal Cord Stimulation Beyond 24 Months: A PRISMA-ScR-Informed Scoping Review.

Background/Objectives: Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is an established therapy for chronic refractory pain, but its clinical value depends on whether benefit persists beyond the early post-implant period. Although short-term SCS studies are abundant, reports with follow-up of 24 months or longer are dispersed, methodologically heterogeneous, and difficult to interpret across indications and stimulation platforms. This scoping review aimed to map the clinical literature reporting SCS outcomes at ≥24 months, characterize the represented populations and modalities, summarize the long-term outcome

Meta-analysis and Systematic Review of Diagnostic Performance of Machine Learning Algorithms on Skeletally Mature Wrist Fractures.

BACKGROUND: Wrist fractures are prevalent, and the diagnostic performance of artificial intelligence for their detection requires clarification. This study aims to determine the diagnostic accuracy of machine learning in detection of scaphoid fractures, distal radius fractures, and other types of wrist fractures on skeletally mature wrist radiographs through a meta-analysis while accounting for heterogeneity of studies using a random-effects model. In addition, this study will compare the results of machine learning to those of experts, including orthopedic surgeons, hand surgeons, and radiolo

Pediatric patients with tenosynovial giant cell tumor: real-world evidence from an observational registry.

BACKGROUND: Tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) is a rare, locally aggressive tumor originating in the synovial lining of the joint, bursa, and tendon sheath. TGCT typically affects individuals between 20 and 50 years of age and pediatric cases are considered ultra-rare. Research and clinical trials thus far have been largely focused on the adult TGCT population. Therefore, data are needed to understand the impact of TGCT on pediatric patients' quality of life and any differences between adults. Here we report the result of the pediatric TGCT population enrolled in an observational patient re

Retrospective analysis of guideline-based massage therapy in primary care for musculoskeletal disorders.

BACKGROUND: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) impose a significant burden on primary healthcare systems and the economy. Massage therapy (MT) may represent a useful tool for addressing these issues. However, the lack of robust evidence confirming its effectiveness makes this therapy controversial. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of implementing guideline-based MT into routine primary care practice. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this retrospective study, records of 258 primary care patients (median (Me) = 51.5 years; 1st and 3rd quartiles (Q1-Q3) = 42-66) were analyzed. These
