Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH), a frequent sarcoma in retroperitoneal mesenchimal tissues, has also been reported, although in a few cases, in digestive viscera. We present a case of a primary MFH of the pancreas in a 37-year-old male, treated with a 90% distal pancreatectomy, plus external and intraoperative radiotherapy over the tumoral bed, and polychemotherapy. The gastrointestinal autonomic nerve tumor (GAN tumor) is an uncommon stromal tumor of the intestinal tract and retroperitoneum first described by Herrera and associates in 1984. Distinction of GAN tumors from other gastrointestinal stromal tumors is based on electron microscopic findings. Thus far there have been 12 reported cases. BACKGROUND: Although there have been a few reports dealing with the sarcomatous changes of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, its clinicopathologic features as well as immunohistochemical nature remain obscure.
METHODS: Among 155 cases of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, 7 cases of sarcomatous cholangiocarcinoma were chosen. Immunohistochemical studies using the avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method were performed on these cases.
RESULTS: The tumor showed both mucin-producing adenocarcinoma areas and sarcomatous areas, the latter being predominant in three cases and focal in the other four.

Twenty cases of histiocytic sarcoma in 15 female and five male (384 to 722 days of age) hybrid F1 (C57BL/6 x BALB/c) or F2 (F1 x F1) mice were studied for expression of mononuclear phagocyte and other antigens. The molecular mechanism for the differences in specific activity of alkaline phosphatase in six human osteosarcoma cell lines was investigated. We examined bone marrow specimens from 19 patients with malignant histiocytosis (MH) and/or malignant lymphoma (ML) with concurrent hemophagocytic syndrome (HS) who suffered from high fever, hepatosplenomegaly, liver dysfunction, profound cytopenia, and erythrophagocytosis.
