We have studied gallium-67 citrate scan (Ga-67) in the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy in patients with HIV-associated symptoms. Thirty HIV-infected patients with lymphadenopathy, fever and/or weight loss were evaluated with Ga-67. Lymph-node biopsy and/or needle aspirations were done in all patients. Twelve of 17 patients with grade 2 or 3 Ga-67 (uptake equal to or greater than that in the liver) had mycobacteriosis, three had lymphoma, one had Kaposi's sarcoma plus Castleman's disease and one had follicular hyperplasia. Between February 26, 1981, and July 30, 1987, 36 patients underwent orthotopic liver transplantation for primary sclerosing cholangitis associated with ulcerative colitis. Three of the 36 recipients died within 3 mo because of graft nonfunction or surgical complications. The other 33 (92%) lived for at least 1 yr. To assess how well chemotherapy is tolerated after solid organ transplantation, we reviewed our experience at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh with five patients aged 1 to 12 years. Immunotherapy with interleukin (IL)-2 possesses great potential in the treatment of immune-mediated diseases and cancers. However, only a few reports on a small number of children have appeared in the literature. From March 1988 to March 1989, 11 children and adolescents were treated with IL-2. Little is known about the genetics and biology of cholangiocarcinoma (intrahepatic bile duct carcinoma). Only three human bile duct carcinoma cell lines have been described in the literature. In presented study, retrospective epidemiological analysis was performed in 84 patients dead due primary hepatocellular carcinoma, selected from among 17,973 persons dead in Białystok hospitals from 1975 till 1988. Before application of embolization material vasoconstriction of healthy blood vessels is achieved by intraarterial injection of norepinephrine. Spuriously low electronic white-cell count was obtained on EDTA-anticoagulated blood from a 54-year-old male suffering from liver cell carcinoma. In an attempt to understand better the phenomenon, in vitro studies were performed. In order to avoid false diagnosis and preventable laparotomy, it is suggested that peritoneoscopy and target liver biopsy should be preferred to blind liver biopsy in the investigation of biliary obstruction.

With DNA-mRNA hybridization in situ technique, the expression of five oncogenes, c-N-ras, c-K-ras, c-H-ras, c-myc and c-fos, was observed in two cases of human hepatocellular carcinoma.
