Disperse Yellow 3 (87.6% dye), a textile dye, was conducted by feeding diets containing 5,000 or 10,000 ppm of the test substance to groups of 50 F344 rats of either sex for 103 weeks. The influence of tubulin-binding agents on the infiltration of murine MB6A lymphosarcoma and TA3 mammary carcinoma cells into primary rat hepatocyte cultures was studied. Colchicine, nocodazole and vinblastine reduced the number of infiltrating lymphosarcoma cells, probably by interfering with the adhesion of these cells to the exposed hepatocyte surface. However, the subsequent infiltration of cells that did adhere was not affected or even slightly stimulated. Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the bile ducts is associated with a poor prognosis because complete resection rarely is considered possible. We reviewed the literature and report our experience with the management of 3 consecutive patients. The effect of lipopolysaccharide (obtained from Escherichia coli, LPS) on the antitumor activity, acute toxicity and metabolism of tegafur was investigated in mice in comparison with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). It was found that the intravenous administration of LPS (1.25 or 2.5 mg/kg) 24 hr prior to tegafur decreased the antitumor activity of tegafur against the solid form of Sarcoma 180. The clinical and pathologic features of 54 children with hepatoblastoma are reviewed. Their average age at diagnosis was 17 months (range: 4 months-4 1/2 years) and there was a predilection for males in a ratio of nearly 2:1. Despite Scotland's well-recognised alcohol problem, there is scant information of the aetiology of cirrhosis in this country. This study of 222 patients, reviewed 197 cases presenting as cirrhosis and 25 cases presenting as primary liver cell carcinoma (PLCC) in the East Tayside area of Scotland between 1975 and 1979.
