Two cases are reported in which the very infrequently reported association was found of liver cell carcinoma and biliary cirrhosis secondary to congenital biliary atresia. A search of the literature revealed 4 previous reports of cases with similar pathology. Our 2 patients were both operated upon within the first few months of life, at which time congenital biliary atresia was documented, and in 1 instance temporarily corrected. Prolonged administration of ATS to mice resulted in depletion of small lymphocytes in the thymus-dependent (paracortical) areas of lymph nodes in all mice. Small lymphocyte depletion of the thymus-dependent periarteriolar region of the spleen was present in most mice, although this feature was masked by plasmacytosis in this region in some. Depletion of small lymphocytes in the thymus-dependent areas of Peyer's patches was evident in some of the younger mice. An attempt has been made to study the Transvaal lowveld by district and tribe in relation to cancer patterns, and to compare these with those of bordering regions.The lowveld is divided into four districts, running from north to south. There appears to be a real increase in the frequency of liver and bladder cancers from north to south. The low cancer measurements in the most northern district (Letaba) are probably due to low cancer susceptibility. This is a report of a haemangiosarcoma involving the breast, spleen, liver, lungs, and subcutaneous tissue. There appears to be evidence that the tumour arose in the breast with the other sites representing metastases rather than a malignant transformation of multiple haemangiomatoses. Histologically the primary breast tumour appeared deceptively innocuous.

Examination of the records of cases of neuroblastoma, nephroblastoma, hepatoblastoma, and teratoma has not revealed a significant association between neoplasia and malformation. An increase in 'Локально' abnormalities in sacrococcygeal teratomata might be explained by local growth effects. The significance of the definition of malformation, the validity of comparisons between 'general incidence' figures for malformations, and those obtained in tumour-bearing patients is considered.
