In the past 15 years 450 girls have been seen because of concern about tall stature: 168 of them have been treated with stilbestrol to control the growth rate. Of the latter group 87 have been followed after treatment for a sufficiently long time to be sure growth had ceased and to provide the data for this report. In a third information of our long-term study with now 304 cases we report on 54 cases with monotherapy-only orchiectomy, only hormones and combination of boths. With it the rectal palpable results have coincided significantly with the histological findings in all 3 therapeutic forms. Sixteen Zambian Africans with chronic myeloid leukaemia are described. Clinical and haematological features were unremarkable except for the relative extreme youth of three patients (aged 18 years or less) and one patient with the aleukaemic form in whom the diagnosis was proved by marrow examination. A group of 52 consecutive patients with polycythemia vera was submitted to long-term therapy with radioactive phosphorus (32P). Initial phase of therapy induced complete remissions (normalization of hematogram; spleen not palpable) in 45% of the patients, and partial remissions in the remaining 55%. A patient with plasma cell myeloma presented in severe renal failure but was otherwise considered a good risk candidate for chemotherapy. Supported by hemodialysis she received intensive cyclophosphamide chemotherapy, resulting in a stabilization of all overt manifestations of her disease except for the renal failure. The designation "pseudomyeloma'' is used to describe three patients who had a clinical picture that closely resembled multiple myeloma and was characterized by severe osteoporosis and a serum monoclonal paraprotein peak. The diagnosis of myeloma could not be made histologically, initally or after three, four, or ten years of observation. The protein abnormalities and the bone marrow picture remained stable. It is not known if this association has pathophysiologic importance or if it represents a chance phenomenon.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (C.E.A.) estimation has been used in the preoperative assessment of colorectal carcinoma patients and has been shown to give a useful guide to the presence of metastatic disease and ultimately to a poor prognosis if the serum concentration is 100 ng/ml or more. During a six-year period 1,808 women aged 20 to 59 underwent gynaecological examination at a well-woman clinic. Cervical erosions were found in 269. Follow-up of 33 patients with idiopathic splenomegaly, 25 for a period ranging from 14 to 80 months after starting treatment with proguanil 100 mg. daily, showed that there was an excellent response of the splenomegaly, anaemia, and hepatomegaly, together with a definite gain in weight.
