Two cases of delayed radiation necrosis of the brain were reported. Case 1 was a 50-year-old man who had right hemiparesis and disorientation 26 months after Linac irradiation (5,000 rad), preceded by the operation for right maxillar carcinoma. A left carotid angiogram demonstrated a left temporal mass lesion, extending the frontal lobe. This paper reports a histopathological and follow-up study of 54 cases of epithelial tumours of the lacrimal gland. The findings confirm the view that accurate histological diagnosis is a reliable guide to the prognosis of these tumours and, therefore, to their clinical management. Since a thorough histological examination is of such clinical importance, treatment of these particular neoplasms should not be based upon evidence obtained from frozen sections of biopsies taken during operation. From 1949 through 1972 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute, 72 breast cancer patients developed a synchronous or metachronous solitary lung shadow. Forty-three had separate primary lung cancers; 23 had breast carcinoma metastases and six had benign lung lesions. 247 polyps were removed by electroresection through an endoscope (and 240 recovered) in 160 patients, aged 24-81 years. The histological substrate varied widely. Eighty patients were operated upon with subcutaneous mastectomy and reconstruction with prosthesis. Seventy operations were performed on both breasts. The indications used were carcinoma in situ in a previous biopsy, pronounced epithelial proliferations on at least two previous occasions or recurring fibrocystic disease after at least two previous biopsies. Since the autumn of 1971, the operation has been performed as a one-stage procedure and we have had few complications. A series comprising 26 patients with bronchial adenoma, consisting of 23 carcinoid tumours, 2 mucoepidermoid tumours, and 1 cylindroma, treated during the period 1956-71 is presented. Eighteen of the carcinoid adenomas showed invasive growth, and six had metastases, five with lymph node metastases and one with hepatic metastases without node involvement (Case 17) at the time of operation.
