Influence of dance therapy mode of intangible cultural heritage on children's emotional regulation and psychological wellbeing: a randomized controlled intervention study.

BACKGROUND: Children's psychological problems frequently appear, and the exploration of coping schemes without drugs, physical and mental integration and cultural depth has attracted academic attention. The intangible dance contains rhythmic movements, group cooperation, emotional expression and cultural implications, which make it a powerful tool for psychological intervention. The research on the educational application of dance in the field of intangible cultural heritage mainly focuses on conventional art therapy and music intervention. It is still a relatively new research direction to ap

A Novel Transdiagnostic Approach to the Prevention of Eating Disorders Using Virtual Reality: Preliminary Evaluation of the H.O.M.E. Intervention.

"Virtual reality" (VR) has been used effectively in clinical psychology to improve existing treatments and prevention protocols for many psychopathologies, including eating disorders (EDs). However, no VR software was developed to concurrently tackle dysfunctional eating behaviours and three third wave cognitive-behavioural transdiagnostic factors linked to EDs: psychological inflexibility, emotion dysregulation and experiential avoidance. This preliminary study is aimed at evaluating potential effects of a new VR-based preventive intervention (H.O.M.E.-How to Observe and Modify Emotions) in i

Conversion disorder with earthquake hallucinations treated by hypnotherapy a case report.

This paper explores the use of hypnosis in tracing the etiology of Conversion Disorder (CD) in adolescents through hypnoanalysis, as well as outlining a structured workflow for hypnotherapy. A 16-year-old female high school student, who experienced sensations of earthquakes at any time and was unable to lie down to sleep, underwent multiple physical examinations across various hospitals without any identified cause. Conventional treatments with both Chinese and Western medicine were ineffective over a six-month period. Using hypnoanalysis techniques, the source of her condition was identified

Cortisol and 10-Year Cognitive Decline in Older People From the General Population.

OBJECTIVE: The present study examined bidirectional effects between salivary cortisol and cognitive functioning over time. Furthermore, the role of the APOE-ɛ4 allele as a moderator of the associations was investigated. METHODS: Using a prospective population-based study, we analyzed data from 752 older adults followed up over 10 years. A random-intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model was applied to each combination of one cortisol measure (at waking time, 30 min after waking, 11 am, 8 pm, cortisol awakening response, total daily output, and diurnal slope) and one cognitive measure (primary outcom

Changes in pain and related health outcomes after cognitive processing therapy in an active duty military sample.

This study explored the association between changes in pain and related health outcomes and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms following cognitive processing therapy (CPT) in an active duty military sample. Based on the mutual maintenance model, we hypothesized that PTSD symptom reductions would be associated with improvements in pain and health symptoms following CPT. This secondary, intent-to-treat analysis included data from a parent trial of 127 active duty U.S. Army soldiers diagnosed with PTSD who were receiving variable-length CPT. We used mixed-effect regression models with

Predicting experiences of paranoia and auditory verbal hallucinations in daily life with ambulatory sensor data - A feasibility study.

BACKGROUND: Prediction models that can detect the onset of psychotic experiences are a key component of developing Just-In-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAI). Building these models on passively collectable data could substantially reduce user burden. In this study, we developed prediction models to detect experiences of auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) and paranoia using ambulatory sensor data and assessed their stability over 12 weeks. METHODS: Fourteen individuals diagnosed with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder participated in a 12-day Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) study. They

Parenting Training Plus Behavioral Treatment for Children With Obesity: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

IMPORTANCE: Family-based behavioral treatment (FBT) is recommended for childhood obesity treatment; however, it is not effective for all families. Since parenting training (PT) has been associated with healthy weight and eating behaviors, intensive PT may augment delivery of behavior change strategies and improve child weight loss outcomes. OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of child overweight or obesity treatment that adds intensive PT to standard FBT with the efficacy of FBT alone. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This 2-arm randomized clinical trial (Reinforced, Enhanced, Families, Res

Biofeedback Training for 3-Dimensional Finger Force Control to Improve Upper Limb Function Poststroke: An RCT.

BACKGROUND: After stroke, impairment of hand sensorimotor control leads to improperly scaled and directed fingertip forces that disrupt object manipulation. The objective of this study was to determine the efficacy of finger force magnitude and direction training using 3-dimensional versus 1-dimensional biofeedback to enhance poststroke upper extremity motor recovery. METHODS: A double-blind randomized controlled trial took place in the Veterans Affairs laboratory from 2020 to 2023. Forty-five stroke survivors were randomly assigned to the experimental or control group. Both groups received 1

Is psychotherapy orientation important for depressive and anxiety disorder-related work disability outcomes? A prospective nationwide register study.

BACKGROUND: Common mental disorders are a leading cause of work disability worldwide. While psychotherapies effectively treat these disorders, evidence of the effectiveness of different psychotherapy orientations mainly comes from clients in primary care and small-scale clinical studies focused on symptom change. This study assessed the association between various psychotherapy orientations and changes in work disability due to depressive or anxiety disorders among working-age individuals. METHODS: A nationally representative 33% random sample of the working-age population (18-64 years) in Fi
