Follow-up study of 309 subjects were carried out. They gave a history of severe head trauma in childhood (with cerebral concussion or cranial fracture). The mean age of these subjects at the time of trauma was 6.3 years and at the time of examination -- 19.3 years, the mean duration of follow-up being about 13 years. The frequency of epilepsy in this group was 3.2/1000 before head trauma. In follow-up prevalence of epilepsy in this groups was 25.9/1000, and of suspected epilepsy prevalence was 13/1000. Out of a series of 207 consecutive fractures of the tibial shaft, 102 were treated conservatively, 64 fractures were treated by AO compression plate osteosynthesis and 41 by internal fixation using Eggers or Lane plates. This report concerns 105 patients who developed painful necrosis or pseudarthrosis after nailed transcervical femoral fractures and were treated by Moore's arthroplasty. The mean age at the time of secondary arthroplasty was 68 years, the operation being performed on average 2 years after the fracture and nailing. During 1970-1973 a total of 57 patients with mandibular fractures were treated at the Ear Department of the University of Turku Central Hospital in conjunction with the Department of Oral Surgery. During the period 1964-73, 286 patients were treated for mandibular fractures. 229 patients (80%) attended the follow-up examination. The length of observation was from 1 to 9 years. Fifty-two patients with zygomatic fractures were examined clinically and roentgenologically 1 to 4 years after treatment. Fifty rheumatodi patients (fifty hands) had Silastic joint implants in 144 metacarpophalangeal joints. Average follow-up time was 2.5 years (maximum 3.5 and minimum 1.5).
