This paper describes the clinical presentation of 360 patients suffering from "dyspepsia" at the time of their initial visit to two hospitals in Yorkshire. Disease categories studied were cholecystitis, duodenal ulcer, gastric ulcer, gastric cancer, and "functional" dyspepsia, with at least 50 patients in each category. The findings of this series are contrasted with "textbook" descriptions of these conditions. After intensification of our gastroscopic examinations in 15 cases of early stage T1-carcinoma of the stomach was found by biopsy and proven in the resection specimen. We describe a 33 year old man who presented with epigastric pain, weight loss and hematemesis. Roentgenograms of the upper gastrointestinal tract and endoscopy demonstrated giant rugal folds, and the diagnosis of hypertrophic gastropathy was confirmed by operative biopsy. Secondary tumours of the kidney are relatively common. Found at autopsy in approximately 4 per cent of patients dying of malignant disease, they are clinically latent in most instances. Correlation between esophagoscopic findings of the lower esophagus and cardia and the extent of esophageal involvement by carcinoma of the stomach was studied in 67 patients operated upon for adenocarcinoma involving the cardia. For three years (1970-72) endoscopic gastric biopsies from 883 lesions in 862 patients were histologically examined, every single biopsy (4088) separately. By the application of adrenaline test in malignant gastric diseases was concluded that after adrenaline subcutaneous injection-arterial pressure is decreased instead of increased as the normal functional effect of adrenaline is. The diagnostic value of adrenaline test in malignant gastric diseases is stressed, based upon 120 observations of the authors. The test is positive in 80 per cent and is proposed to be put into practice in the complex with all the rest examinations of the patients with malignant gastric diseases. The pathologic, symptomatic, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of gastric neurinoma are demonstrated on the basis of 5 cases of the author's own case material. Fifty consecutive patients presenting in a general practice with dyspepsia were studied. Each patient was referred for a combined barium-meal examination and cholecystogram, followed by fibreoptic endoscopy of the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
