He developed a fever during chemotherapy for recurrent lung cancer and was admitted to the respiratory medicine department in our institution with a diagnosis of febrile neutropenia. We reported a rare case of submucosal lesion of the duodenum in a 68-year-old male. It was accidentally found during an abdominal MRI examination. Further evaluation with gastroduodenoscopy revealed a 2 cm mass in the duodenal bulb. EUS identified a hypoechoic mass with a hyperechoic region inside, originating from the muscular layer, with poorly defined borders relative to the surrounding tissues. Following resection via endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR), pathological examination confirmed adenocarcinoma infiltrating the muscular layer, with chronic schistosomiasis.

BACKGROUND: Anal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) incidence is rising; however, anal cancer screening guidelines require further refinement. This study evaluated the accuracy of anal cytology and human papilloma virus (HPV) testing for anal cancer screening in our pathology service, identifying limitations of these tests when applied to this role.
METHODS: Pathology records of all 240 patients who had undergone anal or perianal biopsy during 2023 were evaluated. Reports for 1364 smears, 817 biopsy procedures, and 1441 HPV tests conducted on these patients between 2002 and 2024 were reviewed.

INTRODUCTION: Anorectal melanomas are rare and agressive malignant tumors of the anorectal region of the digestive tract. Due to their rarity and similarity to other more benign and common conditions, such as hemorrhoids, their diagnosis is often delayed, which worsens the prognosis of this aggressive disease. Histological evaluation with special immunohistochemical (IHC) staining is often essentiel to establish a confirmed diagnosis. A 68-year-old man presented to our thoracic surgery department for evaluation of a left upper-lobe pulmonary nodule detected on chest CT scan. The oncologic history extended over 7 years. In December 2014, the patient was diagnosed with colorectal adenocarcinoma (ileocecal junction) by colonoscopy, and he underwent a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy and lymph node dissection.
