Efficacy of [18F]PSMA-1007 PET/CT in Primary Staging of Prostate Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Metaanalysis.

Staging of prostate carcinoma (PCa) still largely relies on histopathologic examination of prostate tissue. In the last few years, PET/CT with radiotracers that target the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has emerged as a noninvasive and sensitive method for staging of PCa. Compared with [68Ga]PSMA-11, [18F]PSMA-1007 is a relatively new radiotracer for PSMA PET/CT with favorable characteristics such as a longer physical half-life, reduced bladder background uptake, and improved availability due to production off-site. The objective of this systematic review and metaanalysis is to summ

Clinical Management and Genetic Analysis of a Complex Case of Segmental Infantile Hemangioma with Subcutaneous Pelvic and Gluteal Tumefactions.

INTRODUCTION: Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) are the most prevalent noncancerous childhood tumors, affecting up to 10% of infants. IHs develop de novo and following excessive proliferation in the first 4-9 months; they typically degenerate spontaneously in 4-7 years. While treatment is not usually required, 10-15% of cases necessitate clinical or surgical intervention due to functional impairments. Here, we present a complicated capillary IH case, from a clinical and genetic perspective. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A 13-month-old patient, with free family history, presented with a cutaneous capillary-

Ensuring bladder volume reproducibility and reducing cone-beam computed tomography-related radiation exposure in prostate hypofractionated radiotherapy by a Certified Nurse in Radiation Oncology nursing.

The role of the Certified Nurse in Radiation Oncology nursing (CN-RO) has expanded to include support for ensuring treatment reproducibility and minimizing medical radiation exposure through radiation protection measures. In hypofractionated radiotherapy for prostate cancer, in which consistent pretreatment bladder volume is more critical than in conventional fractionation, whether CN-RO intervention contributes to bladder volume reproducibility and reduction of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) frequency, lowering radiation exposure, was investigated. Sixty prostate cancer patients undergo

Low-dose corticomedullary phase CT urography with artificial intelligence iterative reconstruction for bladder cancer evaluation.

OBJECTIVES: To test the feasibility and quantify the performance of low-dose CT urography (CTU) with artificial intelligence iterative reconstruction (AIIR) for bladder cancer (BC) evaluation. METHODS: A total of 122 patients undergoing CTU examination were prospectively enrolled, where the routine-dose scan (120 kVp, ref 100 mAs) at corticomedullary phase (CMP) was followed immediately by a low-dose scan (120 kVp, ref 20 mAs). Routine-dose images were reconstructed with hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR, RD-HIR), while low-dose images were with AIIR (LD-AIIR) and HIR (LD-HIR). The image q

True Positive 18 F-FDG PET/CT and Negative 123 I-MIBG SPECT/CT in a Pediatric Patient With Bladder Malignant Paraganglioma.

A 10-year-old child presented with episodic headache, diaphoresis, and dizziness during micturition straining, raising clinical suspicion for paraganglioma. 123 I-MIBG SPECT/CT revealed no abnormal radiotracer uptake in the bladder mass or enlarged lesions. In contrast, 18 F-FDG PET/CT demonstrated increased metabolic activity with marked 18 F-FDG uptake in these same regions. Histopathological examination following surgical resection confirmed the diagnosis of malignant paraganglioma with multiple metastases. This case illustrates that bladder paragangliomas may exhibit positive 18 F-FDG PET/

A hypervascular perivascular epithelioid cell tumor of the urinary bladder showing TFE3 immunoreactivity clinically misdiagnosed as paraganglioma in an adolescent patient.

Perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa) of the urinary bladder is an exceptionally rare mesenchymal neoplasm and may be difficult to diagnose preoperatively. We report a rare case of a hypervascular bladder PEComa with TFE3 expression in an adolescent female that was clinically misdiagnosed as paraganglioma. A 16-year-old girl presented with intermittent gross hematuria. Imaging revealed a hypervascular submucosal bladder mass with marked homogeneous enhancement on computed tomography urography (CTU) and mild-to-moderate uptake on somatostatin receptor imaging, leading to suspicion of par

New-onset urinary symptoms following marriage leading to discovery of inverted urothelial papilloma in a young female: A case report.

Persistent urinary symptoms, such as dysuria and urgency in young women, despite treatment for postcoital urinary tract infections commonly termed "honeymoon cystitis," warrant evaluation for rare entities such as inverted urothelial papilloma (IUP), a benign neoplasm uncommonly seen in young females, with diagnosis confirmed histopathologically, given its potential to mimic recurrent UTI. A 25-year-old newly married female developed recurrent urinary tract infection symptoms shortly after marriage, with only partial improvement with antibiotics. Persistent symptoms prompted imaging and cystos

Primary Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma of the Urinary Bladder: Expanding the Spectrum of Bladder Lymphoid Neoplasms.

Primary classical Hodgkin lymphoma of the urinary bladder is an extremely rare entity, with only a few documented examples in the literature. Most of the previously reported tumors represent secondary bladder involvement by systemic classical Hodgkin lymphoma, whereas only two tumors have been documented as primary classical Hodgkin lymphoma of the bladder. Here, we report a 71-year-old woman who presented with hematuria and urinary incontinence. PET/CT revealed a 44 × 53 × 60 mm hypermetabolic mass on the posteroinferior wall of the bladder, invading the anterior vaginal wall (SUVmax 18.2), w

Guidelines of the Oncology Committee of the French Association of Urology (CCAFU) and the Infectious Diseases Committee of the French Association of Urology (CIAFU) for Intravesical Instillation of Mitomycin C, Epirubicin, and BCG in NMIBC.

INTRODUCTION: Intravesical instillations of mitomycin C, epirubicin, and BCG are considered as the standard of care for most patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). These guidelines aim to optimize intravesical instillations in order to improve their efficacy and decrease morbidity. MATERIAL: An analysis of good practice, available regulations, and published guidelines was conducted through an online literature search in French and English using Medline® and Embase®, up to December 2025. The following keywords were used: "BCG"; "Mitomycin C"; "Epirubicin"; "Bladder"; "Compli

Sarcopenia and recurrence risk in high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer: a nonlinear modeling approach.

BACKGROUND: Sarcopenia and altered body composition are established prognostic markers in several malignancies, but their relevance in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remains unclear. This study evaluated associations between body composition indices-body mass index (BMI), skeletal muscle index (SMI), and psoas muscle index (PMI)-and recurrence risk in high-risk NMIBC patients treated with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). METHODS: Body composition was assessed on computed tomography at primary diagnosis. Sarcopenia was defined using published sex-specific cut-offs. Recu

VI-RADS and beyond in bladder MRI: a pictorial review of quality control, response assessment, and artificial intelligence.

Management of bladder cancer changes markedly once a tumor invades the muscularis propria, making reliable separation of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) from muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) a key clinical decision point. Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI), interpreted with the Vesical Imaging-Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS), standardizes local staging by integrating T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps, and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI). As evidence has matured, the central challenge has shifted from

Case Report: Radical urethrectomy with partial cystectomy and bladder outlet reconstruction in giant female urethral adenocarcinoma infiltrating the bladder: A rare case report.

INTRODUCTION: Female urethral adenocarcinoma (FUA) is an exceptionally rare and aggressive malignancy, accounting for less than 0.02% of all cancers in women. Its nonspecific symptoms often lead to delayed diagnosis, with many cases detected at advanced stages. The rarity of FUA, particularly when presenting with a large mass, underscores the challenges in developing standardized treatment protocols. CASE PRESENTATION: A 65-year-old woman presented with urinary retention. Clinical examination revealed a large mass obstructing the urethral orifice. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed a mali

Progressive Pseudorheumatoid Dysplasia Presenting with Cauda Equina Compression: A Case Report.

PURPOSE: Fresh vegetables are essential human dietary components but are increasingly implicated in foodborne infections caused by Escherichia coli. Contamination may occur during cultivation, irrigation, handling, and retail display, and the presence of pathogenic or antimicrobial-resistant E. coli poses significant public health risks. Despite widespread vegetable consumption in Ogun State, Nigeria, limited data exist on the resistance and virulence characteristics of E. coli in these foods. This study therefore assessed antimicrobial resistance profiles and virulence genes in E. coli isolat

BRAFV595E detection, uroplakin II expression and PAS staining for diagnosing canine urothelial carcinoma.

The gold standard for diagnosing canine urothelial carcinoma (CaUC) is histopathological examination of an incisional/excisional biopsy which is an invasive technique. The risk of tumor seeding by performing invasive techniques in CaUC is known for reason to explore minimally invasive diagnostic tools. Recently, accurate urine-based screening tests, particularly for BRAFV595E detection, have emerged with promising utility. In addition, uroplakin (UPII) is a specific urothelial cell marker for immunohistochemistry (IHC) that is widely used in humans and considered superior to uroplakin III (UPI

The gene mutation pattern of urachal squamous cell carcinoma resembles that of gastrointestinal tumors: a rare case with favorable prognosis following surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Urachal carcinoma (UrC) is a rare epithelial malignant tumor of the urinary system, with an age-standardized incidence of 0.32 per million population, accounting for 0.35–0.70% of all bladder tumors. Adenocarcinoma is the most common histological subtype of UrC, while squamous cell carcinoma is extremely rare, representing only 2% of all UrC cases, and is associated with a high mortality rate. Due to its occult onset and high malignancy, urachal squamous cell carcinoma (USC) is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, and current understanding of this disease remains limited. Herein,

Deep learning-assisted detection of lymph node metastases in bladder cancer.

BACKGROUND: Bladder cancer is the most common malignancy of the urinary tract and is often treated with radical cystectomy with lymph node dissection, followed by a thorough pathological evaluation of the dissected nodes. This is crucial for both accurate prognosis and successful treatment. However, histopathological lymph node examination is labor-intensive and time-consuming. AIM: To develop a supervised deep learning model for detecting nodal metastases in bladder cancer, and to evaluate its influence on pathologists' assessment efficiency. METHODS: This study included 100 histopathologic

Muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma of the bladder in a direct inguinal hernia.

A man in his late 60s presented with macroscopic haematuria and a lump in the right groin that partially resolved post micturition. Clinical examination confirmed an incarcerated right inguinal hernia while imaging showed a right inguinal hernia containing part of the dome of the bladder. At cystoscopy, three papillary tumours were seen in the part of the bladder within the hernia, with the remainder of the bladder found to be normal. The patient was managed with an open right inguinal hernia repair and partial cystectomy with pelvic node dissection. Inguinal hernias containing part of the bla
