Histoplasma capsulatum (var. capsulatum Hcc and duboisii Hcd), is a dimorphic fungus that causes histoplasmosis. It usually affects people coming from endemic areas, causing a variety of clinical manifestations up to progressive disseminated histoplasmosis (PDH), especially among people living with HIV (PLWH).
