OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between bevacizumab relative dose intensity (RDI) and first-line treatment outcomes in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 72 patients treated with first-line bevacizumab plus paclitaxel-platinum chemotherapy between January 2019 and September 2024. Patients were categorized using X-tile-derived RDI cutoffs as low (≤0.61), intermediate (>0.61 to <0.93), or high (≥0.93). Objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), and adverse events were compared, and Cox proportional hazards regression was used to

BACKGROUNDWith a notification rate of 44.9 per million population in 2024, Belgium was among the countries with the highest measles rate of the European Union/European Economic Area countries. Although the coverage of the first dose of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination in Flanders was 96% in 2020, two-dose coverage was below 95%. To minimise the risk of sustained measles transmission in vulnerable settings, such as primary schools with low vaccination coverage or daycares, it is important to quarantine susceptible contacts of a measles case.AIMWe aimed to identify policies that balance m

BACKGROUND: Measles is re-emerging in highly vaccinated settings, where small gaps in adult immunity may persist. Standard IgG assays are widely used to assess measles immunity, but negative or borderline results may not reflect absence of functional protection. HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (HIV-PrEP) programs provide regular preventive-care contact and may offer an opportunity to review adult measles immunity. We assessed measles immunity in a Spanish HIV-PrEP cohort using chemiluminescence immunoassay (ChLIA) and neutralization testing (NT).
METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional analysis

Measles virus (MeV), a highly transmissible paramyxovirus, can cause severe complications and death, particularly in infants and young children. How and where human antibodies target and neutralize MeV remain unclear. Here, we report a panel of human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) specific for MeV hemagglutinin (H) and fusion (F) surface proteins, derived from the memory B cells of a Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccinee. We mapped four and five major epitope clusters on H and F, respectively, and structurally characterized representative mAbs from each epitope cluster. MAbs against both H and F

A multistate measles outbreak, predominantly affecting members of close-knit communities with low measles vaccination coverage in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas began in January 2025. As of April 17, a total of 800 cases have been reported in the United States in 2025; 654 (82%) cases in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas have been associated with the ongoing outbreak. These cases represent an approximately 180% increase over the 285 measles cases reported in the United States during all of 2024, and the second highest annual case count in the United States in 25 years. Overall, 771 (96%) patien

Measles is highly transmissible and can lead to severe complications and mortality risk. Cases of measles are reportable to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This study describes characteristics of travelers who flew while infectious with measles and their contacts. We analyzed data from domestic and US inbound international flights reported between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2019. To identify contacts potentially exposed to measles during air travel we used the CDC-defined measles contact zone and crossmatched with the CDC measles database. We conducted a descrip

INTRODUCTION: Vaccine-associated measles is generally not considered to be transmissible, as opposed to wild-type measles, which is one of the most highly contagious diseases. Data on contact and exposure management of vaccine-associated measles is limited, with varied approaches to such cases described in the literature.
METHODS: We report the case of a 2-year-old immunosuppressed child who developed a febrile exanthem with mild conjunctivitis 18 days after receiving the measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccine.
RESULTS: Given the patient's recent measles-containing vaccination while on immu

INTRODUCTION: The World Health Organisation recommends that healthcare workers (HCWs) are immune to measles and rubella, and those at risk of exposure are offered the hepatitis B vaccine. No formal programme for occupational assessment and provision of vaccinations to HCWs currently exists in Timor-Leste.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was undertaken to determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B, measles and rubella among HCWs in Dili, Timor-Leste. All patient-facing employees at three healthcare institutions during April-June 2021 were invited to participate. Epidemiological data were col

BACKGROUND: Pediatric international travelers account for nearly half of measles importations in the United States. Over one third of pediatric international travelers depart the United States without the recommended measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccinations: 2 doses for travelers ≥12 months and 1 dose for travelers 6 to <12 months.
METHODS: We developed a model to compare 2 strategies among a simulated cohort of international travelers (6 months to <6 years): (1) No pretravel health encounter (PHE): travelers depart with baseline MMR vaccination status; (2) PHE: MMR-eligible travelers are off

Reports on T-cell cross-reactivity against SARS-CoV-2 epitopes in unexposed individuals have been linked with prior exposure to the human common cold coronaviruses (HCCCs). Several studies suggested that cross-reactive T-cells response to live attenuated vaccines (LAVs) such as BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin), OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine), and MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) can limit the development and severity of COVID-19. This study aims to identify potential cross-reactivity between SARS-CoV-2, HCCCs, and LAVs in the context of T-cell epitopes peptides presented by HLA (Human Leukocyte Antig

Rubella is a highly contagious and serious human disease caused by the rubella virus. It affects everyone around the world, but it is especially common in pregnant women and children. In particular, when pregnant women are infected with the rubella virus, it causes Congenital Rubella Syndrome (it transmit vertically from mother to fetus, which causes that the new born baby to inherit birth defect disease). In order to prevent this viral disease, children must receive an MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine twice. If children receive two doses of the vaccine, then they develop long life imm

In November 2017, eight confirmed measles cases were reported to Public Health England from a hospital in the West Midlands. A multidisciplinary Incident Management Team (IMT) was established to determine the extent of the problem and coordinate an outbreak response. Between 1 November 2017 and 4 June 2018, a total of 116 confirmed and 21 likely measles cases were linked to this outbreak; just under half (43%) were aged over 15 years of age. Fifty-five of the confirmed cases were hospitalised (48%) and no deaths were reported. At the start of the outbreak, cases were mostly individuals of Roma

BACKGROUND: Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) are serious diseases that can lead to serious complications, disability, and death. However, public debate over the safety of the trivalent MMR vaccine and the resultant drop in vaccination coverage in several countries persists, despite its almost universal use and accepted effectiveness. This is an update of a review published in 2005 and updated in 2012.
OBJECTIVES: To assess the effectiveness, safety, and long- and short-term adverse effects associated with the trivalent vaccine, containing measles, rubella, mumps strains (MM

CONTEXT: In response to numerous mumps outbreaks reported throughout the United States in 2016 and 2017, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended a third dose of measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine for groups of persons determined by public health authorities to be at increased risk for acquiring mumps because of an outbreak.
OBJECTIVE: To provide guidance for health departments when implementing the ACIP recommendation.
DESIGN: Draft guidance was developed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention subject matter experts based on technical consultations w

Mumps is an acute viral infection characterized by inflammation of the parotid and other salivary glands. Persons with mumps are infectious from 2 days before through 5 days after parotitis onset, and transmission is through respiratory droplets. Despite the success of mumps vaccination programs in the United States and parts of Europe, a recent increase in outbreaks of mumps virus infections among fully vaccinated populations has been reported. Although the effectiveness of the mumps virus component of the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine is suboptimal, a range of contributing factors has

BACKGROUND: Measles importations and the subsequent spread from US travelers returning from abroad are responsible for most measles cases in the United States. Increasing measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccination among departing US travelers could reduce the clinical impact and costs of measles in the United States.
METHODS: We designed a decision tree to evaluate MMR vaccination at a pretravel health encounter (PHE), compared with no encounter. We derived input parameters from Global TravEpiNet data and literature. We quantified Riskexposure to measles while traveling and the average number of

After treatment of an inpatient with measles, an outbreak occurred within the unprotected healthcare workers (HCW) of a regional hospital in Hesse, Germany in February and March 2017. Overall, 10 HCW contracted measles. Remarkably, none of the affected HCW had direct contact to the index patient. One nosocomial transmission to a patient occurred. The economic impact of the outbreak is estimated to approximately 700,000€. Medical institutions play a major role in the management of measles outbreaks, since the risk of exposure as well as nosocomial transmission to vulnerable patients and HCW is

When a person with contagious measles has travelled by aircraft, European guidelines recommend contact tracing of passengers and crew within 5 days of exposure for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and within 12 days of exposure for informing passengers and crew, in order to prevent further transmissions. To be effective, contact tracing requires prompt diagnosis, immediate notification of public health authorities and rapid availability of passenger contact data. We report two events of contact tracing initiated in Germany after two individuals with measles travelled on three international fli
