Can shoulder dystocia be predicted before operative vaginal delivery using a score that includes ultrasonographic head-perineum distance measurement?

OBJECTIVE: The main study objective was to develop a novel shoulder dystocia (SD) prediction score using ultrasound-based head-perineum distance measured before an operative vaginal delivery (OVD). METHODS: This retrospective unicentric study (Lille, France) included all cases of OVD of singleton pregnancies from March 2019 to October 2020, with cephalic presentation and > 37 weeks of gestation, for which intrapartum sonography was performed. A multiclass-penalized logistic regression model was used to develop the SD prognostic score, with missing values imputed by multiple imputations. RESU

Stratifying IVF population endometria using a prognosis gradient independent of endometrial timing†.

STUDY QUESTION: Can the disrupted window of implantation (WOI) be stratified according to transcriptomic patterns associated with reproductive success in IVF patients undergoing HRT? SUMMARY ANSWER: There are four transcriptomic patterns independent of endometrial timing associated with a gradient of reproductive prognosis underlying different molecular pathomechanisms. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: A molecular heterogeneous profile independent of endometrial timing has been discovered as a cause of implantation failure that disrupt the endometrial transcriptome in the mid-secretory phase. However,

Association between multiple pregnancy with peripartum cardiomyopathy: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: While the diagnostic criteria for peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) have been better established than other forms of cardiomyopathies in pregnancy, its pathogenesis and association with multiple pregnancies are still poorly understood, and there has never been an established meta-analysis regarding this study. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the association between multiple pregnancies and the development of PPCM. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive literature search using several databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect, until May 31th, 2025. Studies were el

Consecutive prediction of adverse maternal outcomes of preeclampsia, using the PIERS-ML and fullPIERS models: A multicountry prospective observational study.

BACKGROUND: Preeclampsia is a potentially life-threatening pregnancy complication. Among women whose pregnancies are complicated by preeclampsia, the Preeclampsia Integrated Estimate of RiSk (PIERS) models (i.e., the PIERS Machine Learning [PIERS-ML] model, and the logistic regression-based fullPIERS model) accurately identify individuals at greatest or least risk of adverse maternal outcomes within 48 h following admission. Both models were developed and validated to be used as part of initial assessment. In the United Kingdom, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) reco

Long-term cardiovascular risk in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy: Insights from polygenic risk scores.

INTRODUCTION: The association between preeclampsia (PE) and an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is well documented. Recent genome-wide association studies of PE have further highlighted their possible common genetic background. We investigated how the history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), including the PE phenotype, and normotensive pregnancy, combined with polygenic risk scores (PRSs) for PE (PE-PRS), high systolic blood pressure (SBP-PRS), coronary artery disease (CAD-PRS) or stroke (stroke-PRS), affects the risk for CVD. Gestational diabetes mellitus and risk of type 2 diabetes 4 years after the index pregnancy in Moroccan women-a prospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: The epidemic of diabetes mellitus is spreading throughout the world. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), a transitory form of diabetes first recognized during pregnancy, is a known harbinger of future type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), hypertension, and cardiac disease. To prevent the future onset of T2DM in mothers and offspring, preventive postpartum care and follow-up are necessary. However, the area remains grossly underprioritized. This study aims to examine long-term metabolic changes, including T2DM, in a cohort of Moroccan women with a known history of GDM. METHODS: A prosp

Maternal Plasma Micro-RNAs in Fetal Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia: A Potential Non-invasive Tool for Prenatal Diagnosis and Risk Stratification.

PURPOSE: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is characterized by a wide range of morbidity. Although imaging studies are used for CDH risk stratification, these modalities remain limited in their predictive and informational capacity. Distinct miRNA profiles have been found in other prenatally diagnosed conditions including Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. Furthermore, it is differentially expressed in amniotic fluid from pregnancies with severe CDH suggesting utility in risk stratification. We hypothesized that patients carrying fetuses with CDH would display a unique miRNA profile detectabl
