Multivitamin and mineral use: A rapid review of meta-analyses on health outcomes.

Multivitamin and mineral (MVM) supplements are among the most widely used dietary supplements globally, however, their role in promoting healthspan and longevity remains unclear. This review evaluated comprehensive findings from meta-analyses to clarify their health effects. A rapid review of MEDLINE and EMBASE identified 19 eligible meta-analyses published from 2000 to 2025, encompassing 5535,426 participants, including over 333,943 pregnancies and 904,947 children exposed to maternal MVM supplementation. Randomized controlled trials indicated that MVM use improved global cognition, episodic

A core outcome set for future male infertility research: development of an international consensus.

STUDY QUESTION: Can a core outcome set be developed through a global consensus to standardize outcome selection, collection, comparison, and reporting in future male infertility trials? SUMMARY ANSWER: A minimum dataset, known as a 'core outcome set', has been developed for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews evaluating potential interventions for male infertility. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Numerous factors, including a failure to consider the perspectives of men with lived experiences of infertility or their partners when developing and conducting RCTs can limit their cl

Effect of caesarean birth on perinatal mortality for singleton breech presentation in spontaneous preterm labour-A target trial emulation using Scottish health record data.

BACKGROUND: The effects of mode of birth for women in preterm breech labour could not be successfully determined in randomised trials. We aimed to explore the effect of caesarean birth on perinatal mortality for women in spontaneous-onset preterm labour with a singleton baby presenting breech through target trial emulation. METHODS: A target trial emulation of a parallel group randomised controlled trial using routinely collected Scottish electronic health record data was performed. Participants were pregnant women at 24-36 gestational weeks with a singleton breech baby, no prior caesarean bi

Outcomes of Infants Born at 21 Weeks' Gestational Age.

IMPORTANCE: Advances in medical care and clinician experience have lowered the gestational age at which resuscitation is considered for extremely premature infants. Some centers now offer trials of resuscitation at 21 weeks' gestational age. Minimal data are available to guide this practice. OBJECTIVE: To describe morbidities and outcomes of resuscitated infants at 21 weeks' gestational age. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective case series included all infants born at 21 weeks' gestational age in a single-center level IV academic neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Un

Postpartum Hormonal Contraceptive Use and Risk of Depression.

IMPORTANCE: Hormonal contraceptive (HC) use is associated with depression. It is, however, unknown whether this is also true in the postpartum period when women have a heightened depression risk and are routinely offered HC treatment. OBJECTIVE: To examine whether HC initiation post partum is associated with the development of depression within 12 months post partum. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: A population-based cohort study based on nationwide Danish register data was conducted including all primiparous women who gave birth from January 1, 1997, through December 31, 2022. Women were

Pregnancy and Infant Outcomes in Women with Multiple Sclerosis Exposed to Glatiramer Acetate Therapy: An Extended 4-Year Safety Update.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: While glatiramer acetate (GA) is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, long-term data, particularly for the 40 mg/mL dose, are limited. Previous research found GA exposure rates and pregnancy outcomes comparable to the general population. This study evaluates pregnancy, fetal, and infant outcomes following maternal exposure to GA 20 and 40 mg/mL to provide a cumulative four-year update. METHODS: Post-marketing pregnancy data reported between April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2023 were searched in Teva's Global Safety database and supplemented with 1

FERN: is it possible to conduct a randomised controlled trial of intervention or expectant management for early-onset selective fetal growth restriction in monochorionic twin pregnancy - protocol for a prospective multicentre mixed-methods feasibility study.

INTRODUCTION: Selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) in monochorionic twin pregnancy, defined as an estimated fetal weight (EFW) of one twin <10th centile and EFW discordance ≥25%, is associated with stillbirth and neurodisability for both twins. The condition poses unique management difficulties: on the one hand, continuation of the pregnancy carries a risk of death of the smaller twin, with a high risk of co-twin demise (40%) or co-twin neurological sequelae (30%). On the other, early delivery to prevent the death of the smaller twin may expose the larger twin to prematurity, with the ass

Impact of intrapartum quality improvement interventions on stillbirths and other adverse pregnancy outcomes: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Stillbirths are a major global health concern. Half of stillbirths occur during intrapartum period, mostly in low- and middle-income countries of sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Achieving a stillbirth rate of less than 12 per 1000 births by 2030 is the global target of Every Newborn Action Plan and Sustainable Development Goals. Evidence suggests that improving intrapartum quality of care can help reduce stillbirths and other adverse pregnancy outcomes. This study will explore whether quality improvement (QI) packages at intrapartum care points can reduce stillbirths and other o
