OBJECTIVE: To test the hypothesis that the combined birthweight deficit from smoking in twin gestation is significantly greater than previously described for singletons.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study of White/Black live-born twins, 32 to 40 weeks of gestation, 1990 to 2005, Kansas City, MO. Data were analyzed by t-test, χ(2), linear and linear regression analyses.

INTRODUCTION: Unilateral lambdoidal craniosynostosis is a rare disorder that occurs in approximately 3 % of all craniosynostosis phenotypes and only 0.03 % of one million live births. It is even more unusual for this type of synostosis to occur in siblings with only two other cases reported in the literature.

PURPOSE: We studied the incidence of hypospadias in Sweden during a 40-year period to determine if changes were associated with known risk factors.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We analyzed prospective data from nationwide health care and demographic registers collected for all males (1,948,591 total) born in Sweden between 1973 and 2009. The incidence of hypospadias per 1,000 live-born boys was calculated as number of cases divided by total number of births yearly. One of the most interesting congenital malformations to manage is a conjoined twin. Conjoined twins are rare occurrences in obstetric/pediatric practice. More commonly known as Siamese twins, this phenomenon is shrouded in mystery and considered a curiosity by general public. Current technology is lending a helping hand in the early diagnosis of these conditions. Frequently, the twins are born dead, but there are few cases in which the twins survive.
