Self-care management in patients with heart failure in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand: a descriptive qualitative study.

Heart failure remains a major global health burden, characterized by high mortality, frequent hospital readmissions, and poor quality of life. These outcomes are closely linked to inadequate self-care behaviors, limited patient knowledge, and insufficient ongoing support. This study aimed to describe self-care behaviors, self-awareness of severe symptoms requiring hospitalization, and symptom management strategies among patients with heart failure, and to provide evidence-based recommendations to inform improved care delivery. A descriptive qualitative study was conducted using individual in-d

Development and Validation of the AI-HeartAge Model in Framingham and UK Biobank.

BACKGROUND: Arterial pressure waveform shape conveys information regarding interactions between the left ventricle and aorta that could provide an estimate of biological heart age and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. METHODS: Artificial intelligence heart age (AI-HA) was estimated by averaging results from 2 convolutional neural networks trained to predict mitral annulus tissue Doppler e' and s' peak velocities using an uncalibrated arterial tonometry or photoplethysmography waveform as input. Models were developed using FHS (Framingham Heart Study) participant pressure waveforms and echoca

The multidimensional needs of chronic heart failure patients and caregivers from a dyadic perspective: a scoping review.

Despite advances in medical and device management, people with chronic heart failure continue to experience persistent physical and non-physical symptoms. Consequently, heart failure guidelines advocate for the early integration of palliative care. Nevertheless, the multidimensional needs of patients and their informal caregivers remain insufficiently examined. This scoping review aimed to explore the physical and non-physical needs of adults living with chronic heart failure, along with those of their informal caregivers, across Europe. Following Arksey and O’Malley’s framework, a systematic

Atrial fibrillation density as a biomarker for ischaemic stroke risk prediction.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is frequently classified by episode duration and cumulative burden, yet these methods fail to characterize temporal episode distribution (AF density), which may be more clinically relevant and prognostically important. This study evaluated AF density's association with ischaemic stroke and whether it improves risk stratification compared with AF burden. METHODS: Data from two US cohorts with cardiac implantable electronic devices remotely monitored by the Veterans Health Administration and University of North Carolina (January 2010-May 2025) were

Beyond 'One Size Fits All': Abatement of Linezolid-Induced Thrombocytopenia Through Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Precision Dosing-A Case Study.

BACKGROUND: Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic used in the treatment of Gram-positive bacterial infections. However, its prolonged use is often limited by adverse effects, including thrombocytopenia. Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) has been proposed to individualize linezolid dosing to mitigate such adverse effects. This study presents a case of linezolid-induced thrombocytopenia successfully managed with TDM and dose individualization in a patient receiving linezolid as chronic suppressive therapy for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) infection. METHODS: A 92-year-old fema

Paclitaxel Versus Sirolimus-Coated Balloons for Coronary Artery Disease: 2-Year Follow-Up of 2 Large Registries.

Drug-coated balloons (DCB) have emerged as a valuable alternative to drug-eluting stents for obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). While paclitaxel-coated balloons (PCB) are the most employed DCB, sirolimus-coated balloons (SCB) have been evaluated in recent years to address potential safety concerns associated with PCB. However, real-world comparisons of the clinical outcomes of PCB and SCB remain limited. We combined 2 large prospective registries involving patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with DCB: the EASTBOURNE registry (n = 2,078 patients, treated with MagicTou
