Mastering OSCE Competencies Through Peer Role-Play and Bidirectional Feedback: Empowering Self-Assessment and Documentation in LA Emergencies.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the effect of instructor-supervised, digitally supported peer role-play on dental students' competence in managing local anesthetic systemic emergencies (LASEs). It specifically examined how being assigned to either a feedback-giving patient role or a feedback-receiving dentist role influenced self-assessment accuracy, clinical performance, and documentation quality. METHODS: Ninety-nine dental students received standardized training on LASEs-including LAST, methemoglobinemia, and anaphylaxis-comprising 7 h of theory and 10 h of practical simulation

Differential Coding of Associative Memory Information in the Macaque Lateral Prefrontal Cortex and Hippocampus.

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) and hippocampus (HPC) reportedly play crucial roles in the flexible use of stored information according to context. However, it remains unclear whether and how their neural representations differ during the context-guided retrieval. To solve this problem, we examined neural activity in the lateral PFC (lPFC, 470 neurons), medial PFC (mPFC, 322 neurons), and HPC (456 neurons) of three male macaques performing an item-location association memory task. The task required the animals to remember the location of a firstly presented item-cue relative to a background image

The Role of Occupational Coping Self-Efficacy in Determining the Effectiveness of Social Sharing Following Patient Aggression: A Longitudinal Study Among Healthcare Workers.

Workplace aggression against medical staff is widely recognized as a major threat to employees' health and well-being, yet evidence regarding the long-term effects of nonphysical aggression, the most common form of aggression perpetrated by patients or visitors, is scarce. The present study aimed to test the longitudinal relationships between nonphysical aggression and employees' burnout and turnover intention and examine the joint effect of social sharing and occupational coping self-efficacy (OCSE) in these relationships. A sample of 274 healthcare employees completed online self-reported qu

The PREvention Program for Adolescent Relationship and Emotional Development (PREPARED): a proof-of-concept study.

BACKGROUND: The bi-directional link between mental health problems and intimate partner violence (IPV) is well established, yet there is a lack of prevention approaches directly targeting both during adolescence. This study conducted a mixed-methods pilot evaluation of the Prevention Program for Adolescent Relationship and Emotional Development (PREPARED), a weekly, six-session, non-specialist delivered, prevention program to promote mental health and prevent IPV. This proof-of-concept study tested implementation outcomes and measured mental health and relationship attitude and behavior change

The Relationship Between Loneliness and Religious Coping With Self-Stigmatization in Caregivers of Children with Chronic Illnesses in Türkiye.

This study aimed to examine the relationships among religious coping, loneliness, and self-stigmatization in caregivers of children with chronic illnesses. This study employed a cross-sectional and correlational design. The sample consisted of 500 caregivers of children receiving treatment for chronic illnesses at a private medical center between March 1 and July 10, 2025. The data were analyzed via hierarchical linear regression. Loneliness and religious coping explained 26% of the variance in self-stigmatization. A one-unit increase in negative religious coping led to a 0.815-unit increase i

[Participatory development of a digital support platform for Young Adult Carers: a multi-method co-creative study].

Participatory development of a digital support platform for Young Adult Carers: a multi-method co-creative study Abstract: Background: Young Adult Carers (YAC) take on responsibility for relatives in need of care alongside their education, studies, or entry into working life. Their burdens are manifold, but their situation often remains invisible. Tailored digital services for them are currently lacking. Aim: A participatory research project is therefore developing a digital support platform in collaboration with YAC. The project explores how the platform needs to be designed to support YAC in

Violence at Churches in the USA: Pastoral Leadership, Theological Coping, and the Psychosocial Governance of Physical Security.

Deadly violence at US churches raises urgent public health and psychological questions about how religious leaders govern protective capacity in "soft target" environments. The trauma of these events fractures communal well-being and introduces profound psychosocial burdens to pastoral leaders navigating the tension between spiritual sanctuary and physical vulnerability. We surveyed 255 Protestant senior pastors (Baptist, Methodist, Non-denominational) across three US regions (yielding a 3.74% response rate) using the Servant Leadership Profile-Revised and Defensive Theology Scale to assess th

Police and Behavioral Health Professionals' Experiences with a Hybrid Co-response Approach to Mental Health Crisis Intervention: Qualitative Findings.

As initiatives to address mental health crises are expanding throughout the United States, many efforts are focused on police, who often respond first to these emergencies. Co-response models have grown substantially over the past several decades. However, there is a limited evidence base for hybrid models that pair in-person police officers with virtual, on-demand behavioral health professionals (BHPs). This hybrid modality is important to assess given the increased use of telehealth for behavioral health services more generally to improve accessibility. Drawing from semi-structured interview

Empowerment in Obesity and Behavioral Weight-Management Programmes: A Scoping Review.

In the UK, over 25% of adults are living with obesity, with disproportionately higher rates among Black adults (35%) and those in the most deprived areas (36%). Obesity is linked to increased comorbidity, mortality, stigma, and substantial annual health costs exceeding £11.4 billion. Behavioral weight-management programmes are the primary intervention recommended for obesity treatment, yet they demonstrate limited effectiveness, inadequate long-term support, a lack of personalized care and poor cultural relevance. Participatory approaches, that is, bottom-up strategies engaging communities, ar

Mindful understanding of the interconnected world: The synergistic effects of mindfulness and interconnectedness in driving collective action and autonomous motivation.

The present study examined the roles of interconnectedness and mindfulness in collective action participation and the motivations underlying the participation. Two studies were conducted. In Study 1, 377 participants completed measures of mindfulness, interconnectedness, collective action intention and participation at baseline, with 308 and 279 participants completing follow-up assessments 1 and 2 months later, respectively. Results showed that after accounting for baseline mindfulness, baseline interconnectedness has an indirect effect on collective action participation at 2-month follow-up

Effectiveness of interventions for anxiety and depression in children and young people: an umbrella review of meta-analyses.

Anxiety and depression are the most common mental health conditions for children and young people (CYP), yet treatment recommendations vary. Through this umbrella review (meta-analysis of meta-analyses), we aimed to identify the most effective interventions for CYP with anxiety and depression. We searched five electronic databases (PubMed, Medline, PsycINFO, Web of Science, ASSIA) from 1 October 2017 to 1 October 2022, with an updated search in PubMed from October 2022 to February 2026. Eligible meta-analyses reported on interventions for CYP (≤ 18 years) with anxiety or depression and/or asso

The Contribution of Yoga to Enhancing Resilience and Coping With Stress Among Nurses in Israel During a War Conflict.

BACKGROUND: Nurses working under armed conflict face heightened psychological stress that may undermine well-being and resilience. Mind-body practices such as yoga have been identified as promising strategies for enhancing emotional regulation and adaptive coping; however, evidence on their contribution to nurses' resilience during wartime or emergency conditions remains limited. METHODS: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among 105 hospital nurses in Israel during an active armed conflict. Participants completed validated questionnaires assessing personal resilience (CD-RISC-

Efficacy of a Brief Video Intervention to Improve Parenting Attitudes, Knowledge, and Use of Time-Out: A Randomized Control Trial.

Time-out from positive reinforcement (TOPR) is an effective limit-setting strategy for decreasing disruptive behaviors in young children. However, most publicly available information on TOPR (e.g., social media and other internet outlets) is inaccurate, leading to misperceptions and ineffective implementation by caregivers. We evaluated a brief (2-minute) behavioral, psychoeducational video on the evidence-based use of TOPR to determine whether a low-dose, universal intervention would change caregivers' attitudes, increase knowledge, and improve correct use of TOPR. The primary caregivers of 1

A Randomized Controlled Trial of Self-Guided Digital Written Imaginal Exposure Therapy for Eating Disorders in Patients Recently Discharged From Higher Level Specialty Eating Disorder Care.

OBJECTIVE: Imaginal exposure therapy facilitates the approach of feared stimuli (e.g., fear of weight gain) not accessible in everyday life (e.g., rapidly gaining weight) and has initial promising data for the treatment of eating disorders (EDs). METHODS: In the current randomized controlled trial (RCT) participants (N = 130) were randomly assigned to a five-session digital imaginal exposure condition or a control online journaling condition within 4 months of discharge from intensive (e.g., inpatient) treatment. We examined the feasibility and acceptability of the treatment conditions, targe

Self-administered single-session interventions for mental health in young people: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Children and young people's mental health is an area of concern worldwide. In the face of barriers such as long waits to access evidence-based treatment, perceived stigma, and a desire to tackle challenges independently, self-administered single-session interventions (SSIs) have arisen as one potential solution. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to synthesise evidence of the efficacy of self-administered SSIs for youth mental health. METHODS: This random-effects meta-analytic review was preregistered on PROSPERO (CRD42023457030). Systematic search of randomise

Early-life musical intervention programs neuroimmune activity and synaptic plasticity to enhance adult learning and memory.

Early-life sensory environments can shape lifelong brain function, yet the neuroimmune and neuroplastic mechanisms through which musical stimulation influences cognitive development remain poorly understood. Here, we examined how graded musical brain intervention (MBI) during embryonic and early postnatal periods affects adult cognition and its underlying immune and neural substrates. Pregnant C57BL/6J mice were exposed to a standardized music paradigm starting on embryonic day 13, with groups differing in how long exposure continued into the early postnatal period to test how the developmenta
