Reconstructing Social Participation in Rural Communities: A Qualitative Study of Community Nursing Practice.

Introduction Participation is a central outcome in community-based rehabilitation, particularly in aging societies where social isolation among older adults is increasing. Community nurses have emerged as key facilitators of social participation in community settings. However, the mechanisms through which community nurses reconstruct participation in everyday practice remain insufficiently understood. This study aimed to clarify how community nurses reconstruct and facilitate participation in community-based rehabilitation. Methods This retrospective qualitative study analyzed activity logs an

Interprofessional collaboration for the management of orofacial pain: a delphi study in the Netherlands.

BACKGROUND: Depending on the cause of the orofacial pain, different specialists can be involved in the healthcare process. In case the pain is not, or only partly, caused by dental structures, an interprofessional approach is warranted due to the complex nature of most of these complaints. Collaboration between (specialized) dentists, (specialized) physiotherapists, and other healthcare providers like the general medical physician, Ear Nose Throat (ENT) specialist, maxillofacial surgeon, neurologist, psychologist, and/or speech therapist can be necessary. For successful a collaboration, the sp

Comparing Indications and Techniques of the Tibialis Anterior Tendon Transfer Between Clubfoot Centres in the Netherlands.

Introduction Idiopathic clubfoot is a common congenital anomaly that is treated with the Ponseti method in accordance with the guidelines showing excellent results. Nevertheless, relapse may occur for which a tibialis anterior tendon transfer (TATT) has been described as a useful treatment. However, a guideline describing the exact indication, surgical techniques and postoperative care of a TATT is not available yet. The aim of this study is to provide a survey-based overview of the pre-, peri- and postoperative steps of the various methods that are used to perform the TATT procedure throughou

"A little brainpower goes a long way". Patient and family experience of early cognitive rehabilitation in critical illness: an interview study.

BACKGROUND: As survival after critical illness improves, attention has shifted toward cognitive and functional recovery. Cognitive impairment affects a large proportion of ICU survivors and may persist for years. While early rehabilitation interventions show promise, little is known about how patients and families perceive cognitive rehabilitation. AIM: To describe the patient and family experience of early cognitive rehabilitation in and after ICU, their perceived understanding of the impact on recovery, and to describe perceived facilitators and barriers to early cognitive rehabilitation.

Co-Design of a Physical Activity Maintenance Intervention for People With Stroke: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study.

BACKGROUND: Stroke is a global health problem that often causes physical disability and mental health issues for the survivor. While physical activity (PA) improves outcomes post stroke, it can be challenging to maintain. Barriers to maintaining PA post stroke include the setting of PA, motivation, and impairments from the stroke. There is often a desire to maintain PA after stroke, but effective interventions are currently limited. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to coproduce an intervention to support long-term PA maintenance for adults living with the effects of stroke in Northern Ireland. The

Optimising support for stroke caregiver burden: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised clinical trials on occupational therapy-related interventions.

BACKGROUND: Stroke caregivers often experience significant physical and psychological burden during long-term caregiving, leading to reduced quality of life. Traditional unidimensional support models inadequately address their complex needs. Occupational therapy interventions based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), which integrate multidimensional support across body function, activity and participation, and environmental factors, may systematically alleviate caregiver burden. However, the efficacy and optimal intervention approaches lack comprehe

A clinical neuroimaging platform for rapid, automated lesion detection and personalized post-stroke outcome prediction.

Accurately predicting long-term outcomes after stroke remains a key challenge in personalized medicine. Here, we present a neuroimaging platform that forecasts individualized cognitive outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke using deep learning-based lesion segmentation and location-/network-based features. This novel, fully automated system is capable of processing raw DICOM MRI data from heterogeneous scanners and generating text-based, personalized outcome information. To demonstrate this pipeline, we trained cognitive outcome-prediction models using a large lesion cohort (N = 604) and ap

Pain relief in plantar fasciitis within 6-8 weeks using (ortho)manual therapy of the foot joints: a prospective cohort study.

The sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) procedure is an alternative method for assessing the axillary lymph node (ALN) status in patients with breast cancer. The SLNB carries the risk of a false-negative result, with patients harboring positive ALNs in the face of a negative SLNB examination. In addition, the significance of a SLNB with cells identified only with keratin or with deposits less than 0.2 mm remains unresolved. We analyzed our SLNB data over the past 5 years in order to determine the relationship between SLN tumor burden and ALN tumor burden. Pathology files for the past 5 years at
