Effective patient-centric cancer treatment necessitates a targeted approach with minimal toxic effects. Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia (MFH) utilizing iron oxide-based magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) is one such promising cancer therapeutic strategy. In this study, magnetic fluid comprising polyacrylic acid (PAA)-coated Mn0.9Zn0.1Fe2O4 MNPs was synthesized, characterised, and evaluated for its biocompatibility, uptake, and apoptosis-inducing effect on lung cancer cells A549 and normal lung fibroblast WI38 in vitro. The biocompatibility of the nanoparticles was evaluated using the MTT assay, which s

Traditional dynamic therapies, including photodynamic, sonodynamic and chemodynamic therapies, are limited by shallow penetration and lack of sustained effects. X-ray induced dynamic therapy overcomes penetration barriers, yet current inorganic materials raise biosafety concerns, while organic counterparts often show low reactive oxygen species (ROS) yield. To address these limitations, we propose X-ray induced long-acting dynamic therapy, a minimally invasive strategy for deep-tissue tumor treatment. We propose X-ray induced persistent ROS generation and luminescence mechanisms in fused-tripl

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Psychological and existential distress are common across the cancer trajectory and can impair quality of life, treatment adherence, and family functioning. Although psychosocial and pharmacological interventions provide meaningful support, their overall effects are often modest. This review examines the emerging role of psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) as a potential approach to better address the multidimensional nature of cancer-related distress.
RECENT FINDINGS: PAT combines psychedelic compounds with structured psychotherapeutic support and typically includes preparat

Targeted drug delivery, including nanoparticle-based methods, offers promise for addressing traditional oncology challenges, however, cancers like triple-negative breast cancer lack common targets such as HER2, progesterone, and estrogen receptors. Developing targeted drugs based on non-classical receptor interactions is crucial for effective delivery across all tumor types. For example, altered glycosylation profiles in cancer cells can guide nanoparticles for chemo/photosensitizing treatments. Here we show that lectin-modified gold nanoparticles are effective agents for cancer theranostics.

BACKGROUND: Cancer care is complex, prolonged, and resource-intensive, often placing significant physical, emotional, and financial burdens on informal cancer caregivers. In Kenya, as cancer treatment services expand, the responsibility of caregiving increasingly shifts to family members. However, their needs remain largely unaddressed within the healthcare system.
AIM: To assess the challenges faced by informal caregivers of cancer patients at Machakos County Referral Hospital (MCRH) and propose context-specific support strategies.
METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional design was conducted

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) significantly burdens cancer patients, often leading to treatment interruptions. Scrambler Therapy (ST)-a noninvasive cutaneous electroanalgesia device-has emerged as a promising alternative for treating CIPN pain. This retrospective chart review evaluated ST's effectiveness in a naturalistic population of 52 consecutively treated patients to determine the necessary session count, analgesic durability, and whether cancer type or chemotherapy agent affected clinical outcome. Results indicated that 51.9% of patients achieved a full response, defi

Transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) is a contagious neoplasm affecting dogs, commonly treated with vincristine sulfate, although this protocol may be associated with adverse effects and the need for multiple therapeutic sessions. In this context, adjuvant therapies have been investigated to optimize clinical outcomes. This study evaluated the effect of conventional and ozonated autohemotherapy on the number of chemotherapy sessions required to achieve complete remission of TVT. Fifteen dogs with a confirmed diagnosis were randomly allocated into three groups: control (vincristine, n = 5), conve

Tumors are complex microenvironments in which uncontrolled cell proliferation alters biochemical pathways as well as the physical and electrical properties of tissues. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) exploits electroporation-induced transient increases in cell membrane permeability to enhance intracellular delivery of chemotherapeutic agents. Electroporation is associated with a reduction in tissue electrical resistance due to aqueous pore formation, influenced by electric field intensity, pulse number, and tissue architecture. This study aimed to evaluate changes in tumor electrical resistance duri

BACKGROUND: Head and neck cancer (HNC) presents a significant challenge in oncology. It has high prevalence rates, especially in India, where 30-40% of cancer cases are attributed to HNC. While chemotherapy and radiation therapy are essential components of treatment, they often lead to significant sleep disturbances that negatively impact patients' quality of life and the effectiveness of their treatment. These sleep disturbances are frequently associated with disruptions in the circadian rhythm, which are commonly seen in cancer survivors. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an exercis
