BACKGROUND: Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a rare, painful and blistering genodermatosis with no cure. Treatment aims to prevent new lesions and manage complications. Previously, there were no management guidelines or consensus recommendations for patients with EB in Africa.

INTRODUCTION: Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) is a novel and effective modality for ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Available case reports and small series showed promising results in patients with congenital heart disease. However, PFA ablation in Fontan patients has not been reported yet.
METHODS AND RESULTS: We present a 35-year-old patient with a history of Fontan palliation for hypoplastic left heart who underwent successful ablation for AF with PFA. We describe procedure characteristics and illustrate the potential benefits of PFA in this patient population.

We present a 3.7-kg neonate with a foetal diagnosis of hypoplastic left heart syndrome who underwent stage I Norwood palliation using two technical modifications. We reconstructed the aortic arch and the aorto-pulmonary connection by following the Birmingham technique. In this review, we describe the evolution of the surgical management of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome from its initial description through the development of contemporary interventional strategies. Through this account, we highlight lessons learned from prior comparisons and how these apply to the current debate, Norwood vs Hybrid palliations. The Congenital Heart Surgeons Society - Critical Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction Cohort has played an important role in defining outcomes and shows promise for future understanding.

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is usually diagnosed prenatally. Despite advances, the prognosis remains poor for severe CDH in many healthcare settings, and many require transition to palliative care. This transition can be an ethical dilemma especially in cases of conflict between stakeholders. A resolution can be accomplished with clinical ethics consultations, but these are rarely available in India. This case report describes how such ethical dilemmas can be resolved by applying paediatric ethics principles in conjunction with Jonsen's four-box model.

BACKGROUND: Staged palliation of hypoplastic left heart syndrome and variants begins with the Norwood or hybrid procedure. Hybrid palliation is used in a minority of cases and often reserved for high-risk patients. Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease, frequently diagnosed prenatally. To enhance understanding, we reviewed 18 years of our institutional outcomes for patients with classic ToF. There were 410 patients of whom 233/410 (56.8%) were diagnosed prenatally. A genetic abnormality was diagnosed in 38/410 (9.3%), most commonly 22q11.2 microdeletion (43.6%). There were 10/410 (2.4%) deaths in the neonatal period prior to any cardiac intervention.
